I've noticed that a couple of my DVDs have artifacts on them - not scratches - just plain bad runs from the DVD factory. It seems they should be replaced, but if I don't remember where I bought them, what's the best way to get new copies?

Without a retail receipt, I'd suspect that you're pretty much out of luck.

You can determine the DVD title, then look up the title on Google ( http://www.google.com ), and by researching the producers or manufacturers of the title, can determine who manufactured the DVD. Then, you can look up the manufacturer on Google, and determine their customer service phone or e-mail address.

At that point, you can contact them, let them know you have a defective DVD, and ask them to replace it.

Frankly, it sounds like work, and might just be easier to buy replacement copies.

Call the company that produced the DVD.

You can also take it to someplace that sells the DVD, like Walmart or Target, and tell them that you bought it there, but you lost the receipt. With this method you can in most cases only get a straight exchange for a new DVD. Better yet, buy the same DVD at a store, make sure it works, and then return the old one with the new reciept.

Contact the manufacturer about the DVDs and tell them you would like them replaced with new DVDs. They'll probably ask you to send the DVDs back and then they'll mail the new copies.
