depends on the child
of the four I currently care for you can just hand them the cup and they drink it

one previously I had you had to pin him down and sit on him, and force it into his mouth (it was horrable)

I prefer to be honest with children but in some cases it may be necessary to put the medication into food, cough syrup is good in popsicles, and most others work in yogurt etc

The easiest way I found was to put it in one of those tube like things with a spoon at the end,"the pharmacy will give you one if you ask or some stores carry them in the baby section".Put the required amount in it then hand it to the toddler/child.If you try holding the child down and then try to force them to put something in their mouth. The normal reaction is to struggle to get free.If some one held you down and come at you intending to put some unknown object in your mouth, your first reaction is "NO WAY" and to resist. If you hand it to your child they will check it out smell it and then drink it.Most medications for infants and young children are made to smell and taste like bubble gum or something pleasant. If you choose the pin em down and use the dropper take care that you put it to the side of the mouth other wise your child might strange (choke) on it. If that should happen raise the childs arms over their head on jiggle the arms.I can't explain how that stops the choking but it works every time!

Well my 2 year old seems to not have a problem with medicine, but we've used the dropper that comes in some of the medicine bottles and for those that don't, in the baby sections of stores there are either those ones that look like spoons that you measure the medicine into or the ones that are like syringes, my son likes the syringe one, you can just shoot it in and they swallow.

Their is no easy way. I've tried it all...putting it in drinks, food, etc. They are not stupid, they know it is there! I have found (as far as getting it in their mouth) that a medicine dropper works best. You pretty much have to then pray that it goes down and isn't regerged all over you. I know 'they' say not to do it...but bribes sometimes work. Ex: You can have a piece of chocolate if you take your medicine. Good luck!

If you can, let them choose the flavor. Walgreens has a list of several different flavors they can add to liquid prescriptions. If not a prescription, let you toddler choose the over the counter flavor. This helped with my 2. It made them feel like they had a little control. Also, if they dont like the dropper. See if a chewable is available.

Depending on the medicine, you can mix it with other items that the child likes. The most common answer is hold the child down and make them take it but if you do then you will have the fight everytime. You can first try it and tell them it is medicine. Never say candy to trick them or they may try to get into it without you someday. My neice took it because I told her it would make her feel better and then I had a glass of water to wash it down with or sometimes one of those ice pops and that is our deal. She takes the medicine and gets a treat for taking it. My other neice runs on site of medicine because her mom held her down most of her life to make her take it so we have to mix it with something. Good luck~!

My two year old HATES taking medicine. I used to hold her down to get it into her but it was a traumatic event for both of us. The last time that she needed medicine, I put it in a small amount of fruit flavored yogurt and she ate it right up. No trauma for either of us.

we had this problem with our 2 yr olds.
At first we held them down and used a syringe to shoot it down the back of their throat--but more often than not they spit it out and made a sticky mess everywhere,,

So what we started doing was putting it in the milk. Last year they had an ear infection and they had a nasty white sticky medicine--they hated the taste--so we mixed it with milk, and we had no problems giving it to them.

My mom did the same thing to me. I couldnt swallow pills when I was younger so she would crush them up and mix them with some sugar...

Been there done that. I used to put my sons medicine in about a 1/2 cup of chocolate pudding. Didn't use alot so as to make sure he ate it all then I'd give him the rest. I'm sure you could use any flavor. Chocolate was the one my son prefered. Best of luck God bless.

Give them a choice between flavors. Put like 2 or 3 and tell them that they need to choose or you will. It works for our 4 yr old who hates medications more then anything in the world. Good luck

put there head between your legs and make sure they can't move any where... and then shove the medicine in ther mouth (gently)... and when they try to spit the medicine back out blow into there mouth... the thing is they feel like they can not breath... and they don't wanna choke so they swallow the medicine... and if ur tryin' to give them a pill... give them somethin' that they like such as apple sauce... and smash the pill up as tiny as possible... but make sure they eat it all...
