God does not tell you yes or no, The bible says you have free will, use it.

The big secret in life is that "you don't know."

Sometimes God seems to speak clearly and you feel a strong conviction about what you should do. Other times, the whole thing just seems to be a hodgey-podgey mess. This doesn't necessarily mean you should not make a decision, or that God is saying "no" -- it just means that the situation is complicated and you need to work through it.

If you're a Christian, you believe the Spirit is in you. Has the Spirit been telling you anything, when you really listen, when you have prayed about it? Do you have nagging doubts/concerns? Sometimes we actually do have a "gut" answer but confuse ourselves by over-thinking the whole situation.

What are your motivations for going? What are the benefits? What are the negatives? Why are you going to this conference?

Is there anything obviously wrong about the conference, where you could just write it off from the start?

Are there any physical dangers involved in the conference's location, that have been leaving you squeamish about going?

Passports are such a pain in the tookus, they're not really a great litmus test for determining God's will... although they are one factor to consider. Obviously, if you NEVER get them, you're not going at all.

Hmm. What would I do? I would pray about it with my family and ask God to either give me the strength to continue or else to know more with more certainty that the conference was a bad idea.

Meanwhile, I would keep pursuing the passports. You make it sound as if the only reason you are doubting whether to go is because of the passport issue. If that is truly the case then, (1) if you get them, there was no actual issue about you going to begin with and (2) if you don't get them, you are not going and God has something else in store for you.

God knows when you're honestly seeking him versus purposefully ignoring him. Don't blame yourself if you're not sure what to do. Just pray for guidance, make the best decision you can, and continue to examine and pray about things as you go. The faith is meant to lived out, not predetermined.

I have learned the hard way that God has his reasons. When i ask and realize God is saying no I sometimes get frustrated and wonder why but some time later I find out and it is crazy. Weh I lost a child from miscarriage I wondered why but learned it was for the best at the time and now I have a beautiful daughter who was born at the perfect time. i defied God and went to Korea with my ex and learned I was not suppose to go because he had a gambling problem that led to his abusiveness. I was treated horribly and almost left on the streets. i should have listened to my heavenly father he knows best. Good luck.

I agree it seems he is saying no if he wonted you to go it would have been much easier. I have been amassed at the way things can come about when you least expect them. I had a trip to India last January I was very unsure about yet it just seemed to happen to not try and force it if it is not happening. something else will come up keep praying for Gods will maybe there is another meeting you should be going to good luck

No one can tell you if God is saying "no" or "yes." Only He can tell you that.

Have you considered it may be Satan that's hindering you? This happened to Paul, as recorded in 1 Thes. 2:18.

Consider the objective of your trip: what is this conference about? Would it further your faith, or hinder it? Would it encourage deeper family bonds, or tear them apart? Asking yourself questions in this manner may help.

Consulting God's Word is always appropriate. Have you been drawn to specific Biblical passages lately? What do they tell you? Are they encouraging or discouraging? God definately speaks through His Word.

You may also wish to consult a wise Christian friend. He or she may have some prophetic advice that may help.

Sounds more like the Government is the problem. Will this conference help your spiritual or family positions? Could you go with Jesus and feel totally comfortable about that.. Jesus wants you to have a full and enjoyable life don't lay your fleece just do what you have to do to live your life fully..

Probably the same way if God were saying "Yes", you don't really know. I mean it's common in dealing with massive bureaucracies where problems can arise. I mean it's up to you short of some sign from the heaven's in bright bold neon saying "DON'T GO!"

Our God is an "on time God". He may be testing your faithfulness. Why don't you ask Him?

There may be a question as to the kind of conference it is. It may not be good for you or your family, and may not bring them closer to God.

That would be God saying no. When problems arise like that, take it as a no to your question. If it was suppose to be- then it would have worked out smoothly.
