yes, you can get them at the software authors website, amazon.com, and places like that, unless you are talkinga bout stealing them. If you plan on trying to get them without paying for them, then you would be considered stealing them, and cheating the author out of his earnings

It is not illegal if you download software with free licenses... www.download.com is excellent for finding software with free licenses to do what you are wanting.

Tucows.com or download.com search what specific software tasks you need, then sub categorize to freeware .

zdnet.com ....look under downloads , choose your category .........some are freeware, some are demos, some are limited trials....each one tells you what the license is.
