Where can I find information on obtaining bartending license either through the internet or books?

I would like to either get it in the state of California or Nevada.

For starters. Go to www.gettips.com. It is what alot of the states use to certify you to legaly serve alcohol. It will tell you if your state uses tips training or not. I live in Iowa and they do not make you take any training to bartend, but it looks good to have the training in court if you ever make a mistake and serve a minor.

Where are you that you need a license to tend bar? You need a license to own & operate a bar in most places, but not to work as a bartender. Do you?
