scientifically I like what my college psychology professor said, he said Sean, (thats my real first name), Sean there are no soul mates, there are thousands of women you are attracted to, out of that there are 100s who are attracted to you,
maybe youll date 100,
out of that set youll get along with most but not all,
only 4 or 5 would you be able to be married to and life happy forever until you die,
on Earth the chances are good you will meet one or two of the 4 or 5 that you could be compatible with in marriage,
Sorry, the "love" isn't reason for me to believe in "god"
Does that dissappoint you? My wife believes in Jesus and reincarnation, so how could she be my soul mate if in another life after she dies in this one she has another husband?

There is no real answer to this question but what I have learned of what love is to me and that is the word LOVE itself holds the answer.......
(L)isten: and Validate them by hearing and empathizing.
(O)verlook: their minor character flaws as they will overlook yours.
(V)alue: who they are and what they mean to you.
(E)xpress: how you love them not just with words but with actions.
