I read to do this online...I am not just asking because it is cough medicine for humans and I thought it would work. People online said you can soothe the coughing with it so I was asking. There is no need to call me stupid or an idiot.

I wouldn't advise giving your pet any medication prescribed for humans. I would recommend seeking a vet's opinion.

My puppy had kennel cough at 8 weeks and the vet steered I give him Robitussin CF (now not DM). It worked exceptional... Except it was once problematic to get him to take it after the first time. You'll want a bulb syringe and you can ought to position it deep in the side of her mouth and shoot it in there. Often she'll spit it out, so ensure you do this in the lavatory or other discipline with effortless-to-clean flooring. I'm now not sure concerning the dosage amount, but that you can name your vet and he/she might be competent to verify the kind of medicine and amount to provide her founded on her weight. Don't worry... Kennel cough is long-established and she or he may just appear somewhat lethargic, but she'll recuperate quality. My dog did... He's 4 now and really healthful. Simply provide her lots of fluids and plenty of love. Good luck.

If this is a new pet, say from a SPCA or other kennel, there is a chance that you dog may have Kennel Cough. The vet put my dog on a human cough suppressant in pill form but at a low mg and doseage, as well as an antibiotic. But as to liquid Robo, I would hold off since I believe there is alcohol in it.

I'm glad you're taking your dog to the vet for this. It could be a serious problem. Unless the vet advises you to, don't give him any human medications.

you can give tussin products in low doses but you also need to find out if this is from kennel cough or the phenomina that is going around. And it could even at worse be something in the lungs preventing the normal breathing.

yes you can, but ask the vet's office how much first. the vet lets me give my dog benedryl at a dose based on his weight. the office ladies(or men) will probably know without having to ask the vet.
