First of all, there is no strong indication that we are going to war with North Korea. We have very strong ties with South Korea whom strong encourages the US to back off North Korea. Also, China would certainly not appreciate the US getting militarily involved in such close proximity to their border. And because of our close economic ties and fragile political ties with China we will be hesitant to intrude on their North Korean policies. Moreover, North Korea does have nuclear capability and this fact is a strong deterrent for military action. We will exhaust all diplomatic routes before we even begin considering military action.

Secondly, re-issuing the draft is HIGHLY unlikely because well, we probably will not be going to war with North Korea. There is no need for a draft. Even if we did go to war there are still thousands of soldiers who have not been deployed. Also, the draft is extremely unpopular with the American people and our policy makers. It would also take many months and possibly years to instate a draft and a war with North Korea would not be likely to last so long.

North Korea will be an air war like Desert Storm. The use of troops is completely ineffective and inefficient to fight in the mountainous terrain of North Korea. Instead we'll just bomb with planes and rogues until the NKA is weakened to its core THEN move in with MAYBE a few divisions of Marines. In reality, though, I think the US military is focused on giving NK the Cuba treatment: isolate them completely until a public upheaval forces Kim Jong Il's regime to step down. So to answer your question, no there will be no draft IF we go to war with North Korea, but don't plan on reliving MacArthur's legacy any time soon.

I think Japan is more likely to pursue a military solution to the North Korea issue than the US is.

Anyone ever see Team America? I can't look at a picture of Kim Jong Il without thinking.... "Wooon Weeee, I'm so Wooon Weee..."

I doubt they will, but then again they might. If the Democrats gain control of Congress it might happen. It was a Democrat that proposed it the last time. The reason behind it was that he felt that all classes should have to deal with the war in Iraq. I can't remember who it was or which state he was from. I just know that if it happens give a rifle and tell me how's butt I get to kick.

They might have to. They are running out military so low because their sending all our troops to Iraq, but I don't think we will go to war with North Korea any time soon.

We aren't going to war with N. Korea, so no, there won't be a draft.

A lot of idiots probably do.

The fact of the matter is that from a military perspective - a draft would do nothing but create more problems.

If NK has there way you won't need to worry, Americans will all be dead. Same with Iran. If that doesn't get us we have to worry about the nuclear fall-out between Pakistan and India. So why worry.
