every vet is different and some will not do it at all my did it tell 12 weeks after that he wouldn't do them i think my friends vet did them tell 8 weeks. So you would half to get hold of your vet now i will tell you they have to go under Anestassia and it is dangerous to them as it is to humans, i did have my schnauzers ears cropped only because he was getting ear infections and my last schnauzer had them and i didn't want drake to go through it so if it is just for the looks of having your dogs ears cropped i would ask your self are you willing to take that risk it is a major surgery i know it doesn't sound like it i hated doing it but i had way the pros and cons and drake has had no ear infections since i had them done now schnauzers have hair that grow in them even with proper grooming it they are prone to ear infections if their ears hang downs so like i said i did it for health only for health because i didn't do it to may last schnauzer and he was cute with them down and drake is cute with them up.

It's always amazing how may inaccurate answers these questions get. The cut off for an APBT with the shorter crop is 16 weeks old earlier would have been better but you can go up to 16 weeks with this breed (the 12 week cut off is for breeds with longer crops ie Boxers, Dobermans) No breed is cropped at a couple of weeks old or before 6 weeks old. Most are done at 7-10 weeks old. The process is no more cruel or painful than any other properly done medical procedure, nor is it considered animal torture anywhere in the US. As far as were to go if your puppy is still 16 weeks or under contact responsible show breeders in your area and see who they use and go there. If there are no APBT show breeders in your area the contact breeders of other cropped breed and see who they use the APBT crop is fairly basic so a vet that can do a good crop on a more complex breed should have no trouble with doing a good crop on an APBT. You don't want to go to just any vet that will crop as many do a one size fits all crop that will ruin a dogs appearance. If your pup is over 16 weeks old sorry but it is to late to crop.

Why do you want them cropped? Do you want it's tail clipped too? Are you planning on fighting him? Well yeah ok I have a pit and her tail is very painful when she wacks me with it.LMAO but there is no need to clip or crop anything on your dog, people do that so they look mean or they fight them but it also brings on a lot of problems even if he's not mean at all and you're not fighting him.. Just leave his ears alone.. Tail I can understand now but even then it throws their balance off

Cropping puppies ears isn't recommended unless your a breeder for a certain type of dog for showcase reviews. If it is, then it's usually done in the first few weeks after they are born. I would seek your vet for consultation regarding it. Not all vet's will do this procedure.

It is too late, should have been done at 5 wks.

I hope you realize that half the ear is cut off when cropped. It is not a necessary procedure and most dogs that have traditionally had it done are no longer having the surgery.

We don't do ear cropping at our clinic because it's to cruel. We will do tail docking and dewclaw removal...but ONLY between 3-5 days old will we do the tail docking.

When my parents Great dane was done she was 11 wks, so I think that it depends on the vet and breed. I would just talk to your vet....asap. I know that they will not do it when the get much older that that. The earlier the better.

now would be the best time, but do it within the first year. they are in less pain when u do it then.when she gets home you might have to tape her ears up so they'll stay when u take the stitches out

good luck with ur pup

Ear cropping is barbaric and inhumane. Leave your puppy's ears alone.
