I do believe most Democrats and even some Republicans subscribe to some form of Marxist ideals such as Redistribution of Wealth, Universal Health Care, and the Inheritance Tax all part of the larger economic policy. But their social policy brings to mind two points the complete removal of the church from the state and equality. Drawing a parallel between the two is in no way a real stretch of the imagination.

NO!! And, I am a conservative Republican. Democrats, while misguided souls, are not at all Communists. Frankly, I am glad we have them to keep us honest and to present an opposing point of view to consider. Their biggest problem is they support a welfare state and want the federal government to solve all the problems this country faces on a daily basis.

The bigger the government, the more chances for failure. Even liberal Massachusetts, home of Kennedy and Kerry, have acted, along with Vermont, to insure universal health coverage for all its people. Done cheaper and more efficiently than a federal plan, this MAY be a model for other states to follow. Of course, it was probably because Kennedy and Kerry are not state officials that it was even considered to begin with. Misguided liberals with worn out ideas, yes; Communists, no.

Chow!!

No, nobody with an IQ higher than a salad bar actually believes that, although some opportunistic Republicans--the type who now have talk radio programs--have been using variations of that smear for many years with some success. I must mention that I am no great fan of the Democrats, but when people use overheated rhetoric like this they marginalize themselves, much the way some folks of an opposite sort marginalize themselves by suggesting that Bush is the reincarnation of Hitler.

No.

I used to be a democrat, now i am a communist. democrats do not go far enough to create economic equality, and most of what they do espouse they pursue half-heartedly. democrats and republicans are symptoms of the same sickness. in the last presidential election the republicans nominated a fabulously wealthy, elitist, largelyout-of-touch ivy-league educated Yalie. the democrats nominated a fabulously wealthy, elitist, largely out-of-touch ivy-league educated Yalie.

the only real difference between the two was that bush was out of touch with all but the dumbest 10% of the country and kerry was out of touch with all but the smartest 10% of the country.

while i don't believe that democrats and communists are the same, i DO have a great deal of trouble making the distinction between republicans and fascists. it often seems that blacks are to the republicans as jews were to the nazis. even forgoing an analysis of their feudal and thieving economic policies, the republicans' assault on personal freedom and liberty are almost kafkaesque or orwellian. they wrap themselves in the flag and patriotism even as they undermine and steal the rights that our flag stands for and the principles for which our ancestors died.

Umm, no. Actually, that's not what Democrats are at all

Communisim:
An economic theory which stresses that the control of the means of producing economic goods in a society should reside in the hands of those who invest their labor for production. In its ideal form, social classes cease to exist, there is no coercive governmental structures, and everyone lives in abundance without supervision from a ruling class. Karl Marx and Friedrich Engels popularized this theory in their 1848 Communist Manifesto

I really don't see the simliarities

Why is it only Americans think these exaggerated terms. Come on people no one else on the planet would even go there with this comment. NO, Democrats are not communists. Jesus, stop watching Fox, CNN or reading Ann Coulter, they'll rot your brain.

Sorry for the pout, but my God, do you really believe that???

Warren1515 has the right idea.

I think BOTH parties have 'fundamentally' LOST it, and they need to go back to the books and RUN, not walk, away from all these damn special interest groups. They need to focus on those things that unite and define this country AS such, and all others need not apply.

We need to re-format our government so that it's stronger, and less susceptible to foreign influence, especially being that foreign influence has driven this train of perpetual catering to this or that or the other. Voters need to get out n VOTE!!!!!!! Tell Sen. Fatbody to stop giving away the store! LOLOL

No. A communist is quite far left and although there are some extreme left democrats, most tend to stay close to the middle line

Not communists, per se. (Although I like to call them NeoComs whenever they use the term neocon - I get a kick out of watching them grind their teeth.) Their endless, failing welfare programs that are centrally controlled bring America closer and closer to Socialism. This smells of communism to the average American.
