why do some people, when you are driving and come to a stop light they wait to slam on their breaks at the last min. i have been rear ended before, and that sucks.

They're in a hurry, or they're not paying attention to the light, and see it at the last minute. This bugs me too-- people racing to a red light. They are putting wear and tear on their car, wasting gas, and endangering other drivers. I've noticed a lot of people don't pay attention when they're driving -- they're eating a burger, talking with their friend, on their cellphone, fooling with their mp3 player, bending over to pick up something on the floor, or watching DVDs (!). I have even seen people kissing when one of them is driving. Now that takes skill.

because they are distracted. talking on the phone, texting, reading, adjusting the radio, talking with the passengers, eating, etc.
people say that if you use those hands free phones you will be a better driver but i believe if the activity you are doing requires both hands, your brain should be on it too.
that is the problem.
the other reason would be inexperience. if the people who hit you are young, then they don't know better, the more you drive the better you get. they might just have misjudged how far you are. or they were talking to their friends in the car. that is the biggest distraction for teens while driving.

its happened to me too...most likely because people are in a hurry, perhaps hoping the light will be green before they get there, or just simply distracted by other things with out noticing the light until its too late...

Women are famous for this, not paying attention and or not trying to time lights, its as if the gas petal is an on off switch.

I personally don't do that. But I have gotten in a car crash before when someone in front of me did that, I had to stop very quickly too because I didn't want to crash into the person in front of me, so the person behind me, crashed me instead. I broke my neck that day. It really hurt. And it made me mad!

This is done to create thrill in life and at the same time to show people that i am a very good driver.they do not bother about the people who do not like such things.

Probably because they are flapping their jaw yakking on a cellphone...God I wish they would make that against the law to use cellphones while driving.
...they are more dangerous than DUI drivers.!!!

Cause they are too distracted talking on their cell phone to care about their driving.
