I think you can tell a lot about the guy already. He's already trying to make out w/ you, then maybe you need to reconsider him. He needs to respect you as a woman first, and if he's not doing that then there's CAUTION signals.

You know, the problem with questions like this is, that there is no set answer, it is like asking how long a piece of string is - it all depends on the situation, the background, how the date has been going, and the two people involved.
Having someone force themselves on you, while you are simply having a good time really sucks - yet, on the other hand, being with someone who seems totally uninvolved, when you are really attracted to them would also suck. Play it by ear.

You have to set the boundaries of how far you will go. Don't make out with a guy just to do it, or because you feel pressured. If you're not comfortable kissing on a first date, don't do it. But do not lead a guy on and make him think it is OK to kiss you when you don't want to.

if you like him enough--i will not "make out" on a first date just b/c i can be very shy and it takes me a while to warm up to a person--but if i felt the attraction and was really into him, then sure why not?! but you need to let him know what you are/are not comfortable with, don't let him pressure you into anything that you do not want to do.

i think if he tries to make out with you on the first date, you need to ask yourself where the respect is in this for you. And what are his intentions with you and this relationship or is he only out for one thing....you deserve to know.

no, i DON"T think that is ok....a guy tried once and i slapped him and walked out. on the first date a hug is ok or a kiss on the cheek, never a make out fest...that is just inconsiderate.
