I've always thought Native Americans should be brought into the debate on illegal immigration considering how their land was taken and millions were killed by European immigrants who came here to pursue their own interests. It would seem to be a very ironic situation for them. I don't know how many Native Americans are on this forum (I doubt many) but I'd be interested in your perspective. Please state what tribe you are affilated with.

BTW - There were many sophisticated Native Americans societies. Franklin and Jeffereson actually borrowed their ideas of participatory democracy, "pursuit of happiness", consent of the governed, and impeachment from the Iroquois Confederacy. If you think of Native Americans as stone age people who have made little contribution you have been watching too much Peter Pan.

I'm part Native American (Comanche to be specific, descended from an actual shaman - a brother to Ten Bears). I'm also part African-American. They raised their family in New Orleans. They were part of a culture that made being black, or part black, something to be proud of..
Their ancestors came from southern France.

On my mother's side, I'm Lancaster through-and-though. We lost the kingdom, but we never lost our pride.

America is made up of immigrants. I was born here, but I'm mixed. In a way I'm an immigrant, too. And I'm proud of it. I'm proud of everything I am.

Our strength comes from it's people. And it's people are either immigrants, or descended from immigrants.

My friend this is closed door discussion for our present government. It is a topic that has been swept under the rug for many years.
The land of plenty and prosperity is the foundation of this new democracy. The days of deception and greed are still amongst us. Buying a thousand acres for a bottle of whiskey was the way to recieve a deed back then.
I cannot dwell on the past because I love my country, my true country. I am proud to be an American Indian, and an American as well.
My heart goes out to those who seek the same dream as those immigrants with the same desires 250 years ago.
How is it that this land rose out of the sea to offer hope to millions, do we have room for more hearts? Is there anymore whiskey in the cupboard?

I am a NATIVE American because I was BORN HERE. This is my country. I am a citizen. I am guessing that you are too. What will it take for you to understand that all countries have been settled and resettled throughout history and to my knowledge, the only ones whining about it are you and a bunch of people in civil wars? Do you really want to keep pushing this until it becomes another ridiculous civil war? Once again, a handful of men conquered this land a very very long time ago. Neither you nor your ancestors going back a several generations were affected by this. No one living today was affected by this. This is ancient history. Me and my parents and my grandparents and my siblings ETC are innocent of your false accusations of freakin' land stealing. GET OFF IT ALREADY! Quit claiming all Europeans did this and all Europeans did that. Most Europeans were POOR! Most Americans are WORKING CLASS. Yes, we are moving up in the world from surfs to tenants and from slaves to workers. WHOO HOO! Why don't you join us in being glad about this in one of the best countries in the world and stop bad mouthing my people?!

I am a native American.... Perhaps you should look up just what the word native means. You know the Indians were not indigenous to this land right? They migrated here as well. Lets also not forget how Mexico was formed. The same way that America was. Europeans came and conquered the native people.

Most Indians are for no amnesty and close the border-watch the news-some are helping the minutemen build that fence. And they have joined their membership. And some tribes near the border are erecting their own fence and daring the government to tell them no. Because the government will not tell them no-ever !!
Part Kickapoo Indian. Many Indians blended with New nation-they liked the new people. Often tribes fought among themselves-try reading.

I am a descendant of Apache and Tuhumaharau Indian tribes. But culturally I know very little of them, I'm closer to "white" American in culture.

But personally, I see this as God (no matter which God you believe in) gave this earth to all humans, and he didn't make us into Americans and Native Americans and Africans and Europeans and Asians and so on but rather as humans, therefore the earth belongs to each one of us and it is morally wrong for us to say you can't come to this land or that land solely because you weren't born between the arbitrary lines we set up to set that land off from others. Probably not the answer as a Native American you were looking for (probably something closer to the irony of kicking people off land that doesn't belong to them to begin with), but it is how I feel on the subject.

that ought to possibly be authentic. individuals are literally not moaning about immigrants. they're livid, notwithstanding, with unlawful immigrants entering the country and then draining many social courses set up for our needy voters. If immigrants prefer to go back to the united states, there's a procedure to finish that LEGALLY, and that's about time those guidelines were enforced!!

America is not the Indians country - it was created by white European settlers. When the Europeans came over, there was no country, no government, no nothing, not even laws. It is not comparable.

So injecting this specious sophomoric argument into the immigration debate is just a waste of time, and does nothing to advance the level of debate.

I have some native american in me Sioux, Seminole, as well as other things. I believe that there is a reason why they call it illegal. I'd hate for terrorists to get in anyway possible. I do believe that we need to secure our waterways and boarders just like anyone else would do the same thing. I think if you'd like to live here then you need to come to America the right way in either getting a green card like everyone else or becoming a citizen. We have laws for a reason. If you can't obey them then you don't belong. I don't care if you are Mexican, Chinese, Russian, etc

Wow. Pretty strong stuff. I find native American fascinating I love the way they were portrayed, mystical and spiritual. Me, I'm Irish so we came in our thousands to America over the years. In Ireland now there are many many 'refugee's' coming from all over the world, where are these people coming from, what are they running from, what makes a man want to leave his birthplace and move half way around the world??? I say welcome all people with open arms, embrace difference, reach out to just one person and the world would be a much nicer place to live in
