My cat has been missing for almost two weeks now. We definitely don't think he ran away because he was a very loyal cat - we've had him for 2 years. He's a neutered male, who stays inside and outside as he pleases. He meows to come in and meows to go out. We don't even have to keep a litter box inside b/c he'd meow to go out and go to the bathroom. We have two other animals who he's very attached to as well.
We let him out one evening and he just didn't come back. We called him and went around the neighborhood calling him, but nothing. Then after 2 days, we put up signs all over our neighborhood and a few places around our city. I go to the shelter every 4 days looking for him (they euthanize they animals every 5 days). We also put ads in the paper. We miss him terribly. :(
Does anyone have a similar story or any advice?

Also, he ALWAYS comes when we call him. He is a curious cat, but he knows where his home is.

my male cat did the same thing, always went out side and would come right back, but he was gone for 2 months one time, i put up signs, searched for him and checked local shelters, i was just about to give up home when he came wandering home, where in the world he had disappeared to i don't know but he was terrified, never went out side the yard again. so all i can say is, don't give up, keep looking and always think positive, you will find him or he will find you.

If you live in the sticks like I do, he may have gotten taken by coyotes. My male neutered cat did the same, went missing 24 hours. It was Christmas time and I think some one took him in that nite and let him out again because he was there waiting and crying for me when I got home from work the next day. He is an indoor cat with an escape act. He loves to chase the flash lite beam, so I went out with the flash lite and some cat kibble in a container that I could shake. I don't know which thing brought him out, but he came running. I'm so sorry. If you've got a picture of him, post that up as well. Also, I'm hoping if he comes home, you can have a GPS chip put in his ear by the vet. Costs around $50 but worth the heartache. That is my next step for Mr. Felix.

Unfortunately, you are doing most of what I would recommend. However, cats (especially males) can be gone for some time and still reappear, meowing at you like you have been away - not them. Try to relax and while you are at the shelter, pick out a new kitty - two are as easy as one!

Just go out at night and call for him and listen for him. My cats each ran away once. One night about 10 days after Gizmoe ran away, I heard her meowing in the neighbors bushes. And Buddah was gone a week when we heard her in another neighbors bushes. There's always the chance he got hit by a car. Or someone else may have thought he was a friendly stray and taken him in. Good Luck on finding your cat.

I think it simply just got curious and ran away, you did allow it to be outdoors. Besides going to the shelter, post up some ads online, check out petfinder, call local vet clinics, ask your neightbors, check parking lot or areas with stray cats. Wish you luck!

I had a similar story with my dogs. Here's what we did:
*Put up posters around town, in pet shelters and in small shops or gas stations.
* Post an ad in some of the local newspapers.
*Call around to the local pet shelters and Humane Societies to make sure he's not there and give them a discription or a picture of your cat so if he does come in then they can call you.
*Put posters in your neighbor's mailboxes.
*Tell people! Tell the people you tell to tell other people.
*Use this website that I use when I am trying to find a pet: www.petfinder.com, it will look at all the shelters around to see if there is a pet that matches your seach posted on their wbsite. (but call the shelters too!)
*Go to: http://www.missingpet.net/
*Go to: http://www.missingpets.com/
*Go to: http://www.lostapet.org/newindex.html
*Go to: http://www.pmia.com/
*Go to: http://www.terrific-cats.com/missing/
I hope you find your cat!

Post more informative posters. Alert the police about him. If he's wearing a collar with info about him, a nice person will find him and return him to you. I wish the best for you and your cat.

He is not lost, he knows exactly where he is. Don't worry he will be home as soon as he decides to come home. If he doesn't something has happened to him that he can't come home. I hope you see him soon.
