What do you think this means? I read that the next line of this could possibly be "If it returns it was always meant to be".

But what can I do to set it free?

I heard it was something like, if you love something set it free, if it comes back it was always yours , if it does not, it never was.

If you love something, set it free. If it comes back to you, it's yours. If it doesn't, it never was. We do not possess anything in this world, least of all other people. We only imagine that we do. Our friends, our lovers, our spouses, even our children are not ours; they belong only to themselves. Possessive and controlling friendships and relationships can be as harmful as neglect.

Don't try and 'keep' a person. Show them that you love them by letting them find their own life - if they come back, then they were always yours!

It does work - it happened to me!

What you need to do to set him free are;
be careful to complain when you see him in conversation with other ladies. Don't treat him as if he is your son.
Respect him as you respect yourself.
Whatever you do try as much as possible to consult him.
Even if it has nothing to do with him, ask for his opinion.
There are more to these, but try and work on these first.

You end the relationship.

Personally, I think the "set it free" theory is a load of crap. If you love something, you fight for it until all hope is lost...and then you keep fighting until the death. I do....

you have to trust the person you love and let them go
if they say they need a break or something like that, then give it to them and if they come back then you know that you have something in that relationship
plus you can let them go by trusting them too... like if they ask for a boys night or a night out with just the boys or to have female friends they are close with... things like that
if they come back to you then they're yours to keep and they love you just as much

setting it free means you are giving it up. if it comes back to you it was always yours to keep! if it doesnt it never was yours for keeps . this same cache ruined my marriage and i know someday the person concerned will read this and he will know its him i'm talking about

Well, maybe it's just mean that if u love something or someone, but them don't love u anymore then u should let go.
