Canon is my brand of choice. There are different cameras to fit your budget. I spent $300 on an Elan 7E. It has several advanced features and is fairly easy to use. A Rebel will sell for under $200 new.
However, what makes a difference is the lens. A quality lens will make up for a cheap camera.

if your gonna spend money on a decent camera, digital is the way to go you get a better quality picture w/ digital and you never have to buy film. digital cameras will eventually take over film cameras. go to jrobregon1.mywayout.net to learn more.

Digital ones these days are pretty nice...FujiFilm is one of the best in Japan. Their cameras are even able to shoot clear crisp pictures with trembling fingers.
