I think a lot of churches condemn drinking alcohol at all, because so many people within the faith have come to it out of an alcoholic past. A Little drinking is okay, but some people take that as a license to go ahead and get drunk. The scripture, especially the book of "Proverbs" has a lot to say against getting drunk. It is a sin and can be a person's downfall into other sins or other drugs. This is why churches condemn drinking. They don't want their people falling into sin through drinking.

That's like asking, "Why do non-Christians ask lame, uninformed, generalized questions?"
Not all Christians condemn the drinking of alchohol, just the excessive, abuse of alchohol. Don't you?
I am a Christian and I enjoy a good wine or beer occasionally. But I know when to stop and how much is enough. I hope you exhibit the same self control.

Christians as a whole or majority don't condemn drinking alcohol. What is condemned is drunkenness because you loose control of your actions, and the Bible tells us to be in control of ourselves at all times.

The question is incorrect.
Not all Christians condemn alcohol consumption. In fact, a very few Protestant sects proscribe alcohol. Most do not. Christians are supposed to avoid drunkeness, however.

Christians do not condemn drinking of alcohol. Where do you get such nonsense from.
Devout Baptists frown upon alcohol consumption. But most Christian faiths do not "condemn" drinking.

Whoa there!
Monks invented beer!
And you are blanketing Christians.
I am Catholic and drink! My whole family does as well. Next month is my Church Festival and trust me, there will be a beer garden. Just as I went to St Peter and Paul's festival and St Bernadette's festival and the lady painting my nieces face was drinking beer in her booth and that is normal. The priests even drink. What the priest don't want you to do is get smashed. But of course we do at times. LOL
We serve alcohol at weddings, graduations and funerals.
I am not saying all Catholics drink and that all Christian groups do (Mormons don't) but Catholic definitely do... quiet a bit.

There is a difference between drinking alcohol and being a 'drunkard'. Too much is too much. One of Jesus' first miracles was the transforming of the water into wine as it was poured from the jar.
