Seems to me, ghosts may not be aware that they are "dead" yet or have unfinished business.
I bled to death just long enough in 1990 to see my body and go HOME... I didn't know I was dead right away, because I didn't know dead wasn't an end until that experience.

Time isn't real... so, how long they are anywhere doesn't really matter.

I have a dog that died a few years back and I was VERY upset about it..... and he is still at the house with me. Maybe because I wasn't ready to let him go yet?

What really surprises me is that other people have seen him, that didn't know about him..... My niece came over once and walked through the house to me and when my other greyhound passed her, she asked me, "How many greyhounds do you have now?" I answered, "One. Why?" She said, "Well, then who's the one laying in the living room?"

Ghosts are real.

Ghosts are like you say, people trapped between here and the afterlife: they haven't gone the other side because their mission on Earth is not finished; either they still have one last thing to accomplish or one last thing to say to someone.
Like humans there are good and bad ghosts depending who they were on earth and they will know in due time when their souls can be released and go through the other side.

Come on people! if you really believe in ghosts and haunting then with the amount of wickedness that we do to each other throughout the ages, we should be over run with ghost. in actual fact no one has seen ghost on this plain of existence that can be pointed out as a definite article.
So consider this as a possible truth, if you accept the fact that there is a god, then you must also accept the fact that nothing that you do can go amiss from his eyes. for what purpose would be that he created you to have life in the spirit and a body to walk on earth, for you to walk away from him to remain on this earth as an apparition in limbo. it would serve a better purpose for the devil to have you believe that the guilt and apprehension you feel for the things that you have done wrong in your life is haunting you until you fixed them. that it is your imagination of the hurt that you have caused effects a whole generation that will come to embody an illusion of a circumstance that you can not control, with the eventually that you well feel compiled to be scare to face what you have done. therefore condemning yourself to be a shallow form of your former self's.
My friends, when you die, you go to sleep for there not much else you can do to help your God if you do have no awareness or even a vague liking of him. there you must wait until he comes to you. there is no trap only how resistant you are to your eventually sleep. some will sleep in the light and others will sleep in the dark where there will be much gnashing and grinding of teeth.

ghosts are the souls of people who feel they still have a reason to be tied to the earth plain, eg a house in west yorkshire had the ghost of a old lady there who used to just potter around tidying up when no one was looking, one day the tennants left a cheesecake on top of the gas fire to defrost, it had been there for a while when all of a sudden it floated in mid air and then landed on the coffee table, it was then they discovered they had a ghost, as it happened one of the tennants sisters was a psychic medium so she asked her sister to come to the house to see if she could see or hear anything, the ghost lady explained to the medium that she had looked after her sick husband until she died and then he died shortly afterwards of a broken heart, she explained that she had to stay here to tend to him and hadnt realised that he had gone, she also said that she had moved the cheesecake off the top of the fire otherwise it would have melted, so the medium explained that her husband was ok and that he had passed over so there was no need for her to stay in the house any longer, with the medium's help the lady passed on to the other side. Long example i know but i had to get the point across.

Another reason why there are ghosts in the world is that they were people who did despicable things to mankind and are afraid to pass over to the other side because of what will happen to them i.e they are afraid to judge themselves so they think that stayin here on the earth plain is an easier option, that s why there are ghosts that have been here for many centuries!

Also ghosts can be members of our family that have passed on and are just visiting to make sure we are ok.

its also worth mentioning that we all have spirit guides that are around us all the time guiding us through our life path, sometimes our main spirit guide will make him/herself known but only if they think you are ready, this could be when you are 18 or 80 which is why i sometimes wonder when i see old people apparently talking to themselves, are they talking to themselves? or are they talking to a spirit guide?

Surely anyone who say's "ghosts are DEFINITELY not true" is just as wrong as the person saying they definitely are...no-one has any evidence to prove otherwise.

How can you 'prove' it anyway, if someone believes they have seen a ghost, then they HAVE seen a ghost, in their reality it is real. We create the world around us with our minds.

Of course, quantum physicists may have more to offer in this department, once we understand more about energy and our influence upon it i am sure we will find a context for things like ghosts.

I believe they are lost souls looking for the right way to go! Some are frightened and some are angry with their life they had. Some are within animals and some within objects that have something associated to them where perhaps the souls can't ever be released and are therefore stuck in a time warp.

"Ghosts" are the energy of the people they were in life, the reason that they are still around are personal, it may be due to a family member, or the fact that they don't know that they are dead.

They are VERY real, they have an insight into life that we just can't comprehend and they come in many different for many for many different reasons.

I am a muslim and in our Holy book there is a whole article about ghosts so there is no doudbt in my mind that ghosts exists. they certainly do exist. Some of them are evil and some are nice. But remeber of all the different kinds of things living in this world, man is supperior of them all.
