Whilst on holiday in the USA I noticed that some places sold PB&J sandwiches? Do the yanks put peanut butter and the jelly (I take that means jam) on the same sandwich or two different sandwiches and what sort of jelly / jam is it traditionally?

omg, jelly and jam are different and peanut butter and jelly on the same sandwich is a staple american food. Try it with grape or strawberry jelly, but any kind will do.

A peanutbutter and jelly sandwich is a lovely snack in the good old USA. It's peanut butter and jelly within the same sandwich, not two separate ones. Traditional jellies used for pb&j's are grape or strawberry. You should try one...they are delicious!

Wow an Australian ;O Peanut butter and jelly is a person-pleasant sandwich contained in the states. :) Peanut butter is made from peanuts. Jelly is often fruit in a jar without the seeds. Jam (it extremely is extra perfect for you) has seeds and chunks of fruit. Peanut butter and jelly is served on bread. Jelly is compared to jello yet they both do jiggle :) it is also reffered to as PB&J. -had one this morning-

Jelly (not gelatin which is Jell-O, made from beef) is sort of like jam, but without the bits of fruit - made with juice. Peanut butter and jam or peanut butter and jelly sandwiches are AWESOME.

I enjoy peanut butter with Robertsons ginger spread on wholewheat toast. But, my favourite is made with raspberry jam - even better if you add slices of banana to the sandwich. Ideally, the bread should be whole grain/ multi-grain (or at very least whole wheat) and toasted.

(You DO realize you're making me hungry!)

Hang on a minute, are we talking about Jam or Jelly (which I believe Americans call Jell-O)?
Either way, surely that's wrong and is probably a major contributor to the country's spiraling obesity problems.

Peanut butter goes on one slice, and jelly goes on the other :)! and strawberry jelly tastes best--PB&Js are okay.. but fluffer nutters are amazing!! marshmallow fluff on one slice [preferably white bread] and peanut butter on the other.. YUMMO!

My dear girl, you must try it. It is amazing. It shall rock your world. FYI, Jelly is of a single consistency, Jam has little pieces of fruit in it, and Preserves has whole big whomping (yes, they must whomp or it doesn't count) chunks of fruit in it. Strawberry is the best. Also, it tastes better if you cut it diagonally.
