No. Ever. A guy on the news last night, a self proclaimed "scientist" picked up two hitchhikers in a seemingly good area of town. They said they needed to get to a close by neighborhood. Now I don't mean to be judgmental but whatever the stereotypical look of a meth user is in your mind, well that's what they looked like. Anyway, the guy pulled out a gun and forced the man to give over his car and took off. The police caught them within minutes by tracking the lowjack on the car. First of all, what the hell was a "scientist" picking up the scariest two humans on earth both of which looked like they might eat him much less kill him. Second of all, what the hell is anyone picking up anyone for in this day and age. I mean, it ain't 1964! If a little old lady was sitting on the side of the highway, wandering into the woods shouting, "Walter, I know your in there hiding from me", perhaps I give her a ride but that's about the extent of my altruism reach when it comes to giving strangers rides. Sorry, but it only takes one bad apple to lock you in their basement and make you "put the lotion in the basket".

If its in the then maybe. Only if they dont look to creepy looking. Alot of people that are hitchhikers arent out there to hurt you, they just want help. I usually grab mcdonalds for them or a meal. And drop it off a bit in front of them. Im with a friend of course. I tell her to yell to the hitchhiker its for them. And usually theres 10$ in there also. So they can catch a cab or buy something later on that night.

I would never pick up a hitchhiker, but my boyfriend does. He'll stop on the side of the road if someone has a flat or out of gas or something. He gives them rides to the gas station or wherever, but it creeps me out. I always tell him that its dangerous and that the "i have a flat tire" could be a ploy to get someone to stop, but he says that he would want someone to stop for him if the roles were reversed.

There was a study a while back that showed a very large percentage of hitch hikers had some kind of a criminal record. Not a good idea.

you never know. they might kill you. as a woman driving by myself I never pick them up. I think the only time I have was on the way down from snowboarding we gave some guys a lift into town, but I wasn't alone then.

No, because you don't know what they're really up to. Read "Riding the Bullet" by Stephen King and you may find out why.

I never do, you never know what could happen. It's sad that the world has come to that.
