Does it really matter? The nonsense that is being spewed out most of these people is far worse then an undotted i or an uncrossed t.

First of all, I believe that we all have the impulse to submit writing, especially informal writing such as Yahoo questions, without first proofreading it. Spelling cannot check everything, and even if it could, so many of us (myself included) believe that of COURSE we did it right the first time; why check? And then we see our writing, cringe, and realize we cannot edit our questions, only our answers.

Second, as an English teacher, I teach my students that there is a time and a place for Standard English. I teach them as my Applied Grammar professor taught me: "People are shallow: use it." This becomes important in situations like job interviews and the academic arena, and it could be important even in this one. Most internet environs, however, do not require careful attention the the judgment of the person on the other side of the screen. Even I do not concern myself with proper punctuation and capitalization in IM!

Of course it is true that there are non-native English speakers on the board. It is also true that there are careless people asking questions. However, it may also be true that some people do not take into account or concern themselves with the way they may be judged and the efficacy of the questions returned if they are not attentive to their spelling and grammar.

PS Your sentence is not grammatically incorrect as previously suggested: just questionable with regard to style.

Your question is sliding in route of a run-on sentence no longer extremely, yet gettin ' there. circumvent comma splices. I HATE misspellings too .I actual were popular to apply the Repugnicon epithet. Sorry. I received't promise that I received't use it back. it truly is kinda interesting. It does get the Republicans stirred up. And sure, it DOES have a tendency to make an argument a procedures a lot less efficient even as once you take advantage of such "words" as "gurl" and "boi; "what the f***''s with that? If we received't use language to get our element in the time of, then we are all screwed. enormous time. And if we ignore a thanks to spell our personal language, then we may besides provide up,and hand each and everything over to the chinese. We only ought to bear in mind 26 letters; they have were given quite a few thousand. I nevertheless have problems with " chum " - and the"i" before "e" rule - I nevertheless attempt to take the time to spell issues wisely. you're not from now on a instructor, are you? Haha.

I have noticed this too and think I have identified several reasons:

1) It is (unfortunately) very cool with the kiddies to use txt slang. It is silly and immature, but they do it all day on their phones, so it makes sense to them. Mock them to the fullest extent.

2) A lot of people asking questions are not English speakers. This is an international community here, so a lot of posters are not that skilled or schooled in English. Have patience and be nice!

3) Our educational system is failing horribly.

Sad examples of the total lack of education of our youth. And some of these posters are having children of their own. More ignorance being bred into society. Very scary.

And Jaybird, Yahoo Answers has offered CHECK SPELLING since day 1. Heaven help us all, now people are too lazy to even look!

Grammar is my thing, I can't stand it when people mess it up, but you know, it's not because they're dropouts or stupid, some people just... can't spell! It's crazy, I know, but whatever. *spell checks* No misspellings found. Cool. FYI, I don't always check, but since this IS a grammar question I'm being super-good.

Proper grammar would be, "Why do so many of THESE questions...?".

Actually, "incomprehensible" should have been first to give the sentence the correct meaning.

Thanks for playing.

Because Yahoo does not offer spell check on questions yet.

I believe they are kindergarten drop-outs. Either that, or they were kicked out for not shaving.
