I find the software really irritating. I use IE a lot more. AOL 9.0's homepage seems to freeze a lot and the software crashes a lot too.

my AOL account causes problems also. Apparently AOL adds software to your computer that is not needed and can sometimes cause systems to hang. I'm changing to BT Yahoo when my contract is finished.

You need to check the memory load. I upgraded my first computer from 64MB to 192MB to install Windows XP (I know it calls for 256 MB RAM minimum). When I upgraded to AOL 9.0, I had that same problem.

Here's what you do: Right-click on the AOL icon in the notification area (immediately to the left of the clock at the right end of the task bar) and click System Information... You will see a box to the right of memory that displays the memory load on your machine. If it is 70% or higher, AOL 9.0 is not for you--you will have to delete it and go back to an eaarlier version (say, 7.0)

Why use Aol at all. It sucks and if and when you decide to leave them they give you all sorts of reasons to stay. Try something else besides AOL and you can get a much cheaper ISP also, such as People PC, Netzero etc. I have a DSL isp and only paying $12.99 a month for it thru my phone company.
