Ok for those of you with exp. in weight loss Help. I have decided that I want to lose weight. I currently and 5 1 and 135lbs I would like to lose 15 to 20 lbs. So this is what I have been doing I am drinking 2 slim fast shakes a day eating fruits for snack and eating chicken and a veggie at dinner I am also cutting down to 1 diet coke a day and drinking water. I am walking 45 minutes a day on a trewad mill I would run but I have a past knee injury. Will I lose the weight that I want by doing this? Anything else that I need to know and how long should it take me if I walk 5 times a week???

1st thing to do....throw away your scale. Ask the people at the gym to do a "Fat Caliper" test on you.

You want to lose body fat and if your working out, eating right..your bound to put on some lean muscle mass..it's inevitable. The scale..since going on straight weight will tell you you gained a pound when in reality, you gained 2lbs of muscle but lost 2% body fat (2-4lbs)!!!

Do a measurement every 2 weeks BEFORE your workout to get better results.

Incorporate some weightlifting to gain more lean mass so that your body burns more cals while resting. (don't worry, you won't get bodybuilder huge..that take large amounts of chemical or YEARS of lifting and about 6000 calories per day).

Also slightly increase the intensity of your workouts each week..add an incline # and / or up the speed..even just a little keeps your body guessing.

Change up your cardio..due to bad knees, go swimming, buy a small punching bag, elliptical ect..

PS - your diet is setting you up for failure.

I wouldn't drink Slim Fast. It might satisfy your sugar and/or chocolate craving but read the ingredients. It's not pretty. Eat real food instead such as shredded wheat cereal made with whole grains, steel cut oatmeal, or some other healthy choice high in fiber and nutrition. It should take you about two months to lose 20 pounds if you put a good plan into use.

You're doing great! Losing weight the healthy way! It will take a while (2 or 3 months maybe) but you will be healthy, fit, and you will have good habits that will stay with you forever. Finally, someone who is not crash dieting and ruining their body.

Eat 5 6 small meals a day instead of 3

I accounted calories which pointed out to me that I could decrease my appetite. When I discovered this, I went down to one meal a day: dinner. No problem after one year. I have heard that movie stars eat every other day in order to keep their weight in control. I am 56.

its sounds to me like you are doing eveything correct. You should probably expect to lose 2 pounds a week. If you look on any slimfast label that is what it says and of course you will have weeks were you lose 3 pounds or weeks that u lose just one dont get discouraged keep up the good work
