How can you punish someone for sins they did here and there over the course of a single human life time by condemning them to hell for all eternity?

If god is all about love then why would he knowingly allow the creatures he created to suffer for all eterntiy simply for the crime of not doing what he tells them to? How is that love? It sounds like a spoiled child who breaks his toys because they don't do the things he wants them to do.

Why would a loving God not honor the wishes of his children. Those who want nothing to do with Him while on Earth get their wishes. They have nothing to do with Him for all eternity.

Mark E has a good point. Have you ever tried to be around someone you didn't like for a long period of time? Or better yet... If you were made to live forever with someone you absolutely HATED .. How would you feel? Probably miserable huh?

Well, God loves enough.. not not to allow anyone who hates Him to spend eternity with Him. Because that would just be torture. He's is our Creator and he welcomes all with open arms and pleads with us to repent. Yes,.. the wages of sin is indeed death...BUT.... the gift of God is eternal life. So,... choose ye this day whom you shall serve. A sinner is a person who practices sin and has made an deliberate choice to live in sin and rebellion against God's law. When Jesus returns all sin will be destroyed and if you choose to be attached to sin... you will be destroyed/lost. God takes no pleasure in anyone being lost. Both God and His laws are just.

Unfortunately, humans want to have their cake and eat it too. Why punish a person for committing a crimes... Just let them continue to live and reap the benefits of their choices... No problem right?

Christians do find it very horrible that some will be sent to eternal separation from God,
Christians, do not make up the rules, it is not a vote ,
"all in favor of changing that rule about all sinners going to be punished forever say I "

Because Christians find it Horrible, they try to share Gods Plan of salvation,
some times effectively some times not so , some times by good methods sometimes by not good methods,

God offers salvation to all, but not everyone wants it , how is it said....... I would rather laugh with the sinners than cry with the saints, the sinners are much more fun, only the good die young.

The spoiled child is not God, the spoiled child is Gods creation that does not respond to his invitation,

If my 5 year old son is in a burning building and I call him and he does not come to me whose at fault

if my son is 25 years old and is in a burning building and I call to him and he does not come whose fault

Your question shows you have some knowledge , and I hope you are willing to listen to your Heavenly Fathers call, Get out of the Burning building , and bring others with you.The choice is yours, The choice is all yours

First of all, you're not punished for your sins. We were all born sinners. You're "punished" because you never knew God. We all have free will in whether we want to believe God/believe in God/Have a relationship with God. The only thing He asks for us to do is accept Him. I don't see how that's so hard. The same principles that apply to loving ones' family/husband/wife are the same for God. But so many people don't understand the concept of Love. Look at this world. All the betrayal and fornication, violence, etc.

If you follow God, you won't have to worry about the "horrors" of hell.

"And, behold, I come quickly; and my reward is with me, to give every man according as his work shall be." Revelation 22:12. "And then he shall reward every man according to his works." Matthew 16:27. "That servant, which knew his lord's will, and ... neither did according to his will, shall be beaten with many stripes. But he that knew not, and did commit things worthy of stripes, shall be beaten with few stripes." Luke 12:47, 48.
Jesus will insist upon just treatment for the wicked. Their degree of punishment will be fair and according to their works, as He promised.

Answer: The Bible does not tell how long the wicked will be punished before receiving death in the fire. God does specifically state, however, that all will be punished according to their deeds. This means some will receive greater punishment than others, based upon their works.

"Depart from me, ye cursed, into everlasting fire, prepared for the devil and his angels." Matthew 25:41. "And whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire." Revelation 20:15. "For yet a little while, and the wicked shall not be." "The enemies of the Lord ... shall consume; into smoke shall they consume away." Psalms 37:10, 20.
Destroying sin, sinners, and Satan is the only way to make the universe safe for eternity.

Answer: God's purpose is that hell will destroy the devil and all sin and sinners and make the world safe for eternity. One sinner, if left on this planet, would be a deadly virus forever threatening the universe. It is God's plan to isolate sin and blot it out of existence for all time.

Eternal Hell Would Perpetuate Sin
An eternal hell of torment would perpetuate sin and make its eradication impossible. An eternal hell of torment is not part of God's great plan at all. Such a horrible theory is slander against the holy name of a loving God. The devil delights to see our loving Creator pictured as such a monstrous tyrant, and he alone can benefit from such teachings.

Eternal Hell a Man-made Theory
The "eternal hell of torment" theory originated not from the Bible, but from misguided people who were (perhaps inadvertently) led of the devil. And, incidentally, no one will be in heaven because he feared hell. People are saved because they love and obey Christ.

Eternal torment in a burning hell is not from the Bible, dispite the fact that most Christians accept it as a Bible doctrine. Eternal torment is a myth from Greek mythology that was adopted into Christianity mainly by the Roman Catholic Church.

The Bible teaches that the wicked lost will be destroyed by fire out of heaven. This is found in the book of Revelation. Once they are destroyed they will be no more. They will not exist any more.

The punishment is eternity in hell because you have offended an eternal God. And the Bible also says that you can not save yourself. God is the only one who can save you from your sins. Withought God, you would be forever unrepentant. Meaning, even if you had eternity, you still would not turn from your sinful ways.

You need to ask for fogiveness. God will forgive you if you ask him to, but won't if you don't.

Because God is a just God, he must punish sin. The bible isn't confusing about this, but if you like I can show you -

1. 1 John 1:9 "If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness."

Ezekiel 18:21, "But if the wicked will turn from all his sins that he hath committed, and keep all my statutes, and do that which is lawful and right, he shall surely live, he shall not die."

Psalm 103: 8-13, "The LORD is merciful and gracious, slow to anger, and plenteous in mercy. He will not always chide neither will he keep his anger for ever. He hath not dealt with us after our sins; nor rewarded us according to our iniquities. For as the heaven is high above the earth, so great is his mercy toward them that fear him. As far as the east is from the west, so far hath he removed our transgressions from us. Like as a father pitieth his children, so the LORD pitieth them that fear him."

"For all have sinned and come short of the glory of God" (Romans 3:23).

"For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord" (Romans 6:23).

"Nothing in all creation is hidden from God's sight. Everything is uncovered and laid bare before the eyes of him to whom we must give account." Hebrews 4:13 (NIV)

"If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us." 1 John 1:8

"The Lord is...not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance" (II Peter 3:9)

These are just a few to get you started. Take care:)

God gives us the choice of a life with him, or a wordly life with Satan. He created us, He gives us the choice of how to live our lives and lets us know the consequences of choosing the world. So why would it be wrong to punish for all eternity? We make that choice. He forgives if we accept Christ as our Saviour, but we can't continue to do wrong over & over again because it shows insincerity on our part. We know what we're getting into. Just like telling your kids "no" to something they want to do; they know the consequences of a wrong decision, so if they screw up, they know what their punishment would be. It's a choice.

God is not punishing us. We are all destined to go to hell because we screwed up. It's like we are on a raft on a river that's destined to end with a deadly waterfall. We chose that river, and He's holding out a rope for us. We just need to grab on to it and trust that He'll pull us to Him. But many people are insistent that they don't need to be saved. Either, they don't believe there is a waterfall, or they believe that they can save themselves or find another way to get to safety. God created us, but that doesn't mean He's obligated to save us. But the fact remains that He does love us and has demonstrated that to us.
