17.. don't start too early. You have all the time in the world to start. I started way too young.. Age 14, and it lead to me being forced to deal with way too mature emotions at a very young age. I was 15 and seriously invoved with a 16yr. old. It still messes with my emotions today.. I am 25 now. Don't start too young.

I know you don't want to hear this but it really depends on the person and their maturity level. You and your parents are the best ones to determine if you are ready or not. Every teenager thinks they know a little more than their parents. And yes, some parents aren't very bright but they always know a little more than you think they do. Listen to them. You'll be thankful in the long run.

Wait til you get a job first.
Going out together means you have to spend money on gas, movies, restaurants, etc. Who's going to pay for this? Sometimes you and sometimes your partner, right? Don't tell me a relationship costs nothing nowadays.
