Yes, I can strongly recommend Redeemer Presbyterian Church in Manhattan. I realize it may be a distance from the Bronx, but it's worth the hike.
Preaching pastor is Tim Keller, I've read a great deal of his work and visited there from California. If I was living in NY, that's where I'd worship and be a member.

I would say that you need to look around and try some out, let God lead you to the right church. I would also say to listen to the girl who said try a Calvary Chapel church, because I go to one in my Southern California area.

St. Patrick's Cathedral, if you are looking for Catholic. It is an amazing church that also has strong teachings and community work.
