I needed to brush up on my Bible since all I remember from my parental enforced Sunday School were the really scary parables, like maybe my mom and dad could sacrifice me and God and the Devil can make bets behind your back… So I went to look for a Bible and lo and behold there are like 50 of them! And that does not include the study guides! When I went into the religious store (and got passed the fact I did not immediately burst into flames) the clerk who was very nice, asked what religion I was…What? (Insert head doing double take here) when I was a kid there was only one, it was black and it had all my family’s names in it.
While I was busy mentally packing my beliefs in the agnostic file than after College trying to delete them and couldn’t, so I recycled them under atheism- you guys were busy writing like ,100 Bibles!
So here is my question. Are you really following God’s word or some weak interpretation of it? And on a lighter note which Bible should I buy?

I just spent 8 dollars on something called a New King James Version

Now when I talk to people here I know what words they are using and it doesnt have that thee and thou stuff

I've read the first 34 chapters so far,

its like old friends, stories of adam and eve and noah and abraham

i read it when i was a child

but now as an adult i read and get mad over the things that are "wrong" or "outrageous" or "absurd"

But the wording is better than an NIV cause when I talk to people I wanna know what they are talking about.

Just as an example the word dominion in not in the chapter 1 of the genesis in the NIV so like last week im on yahoo answers going where is the word dominion?

And now on Monday I read that word in Chapter 1

So, thats just my advice, New King James Version

And I thank you for the compliment.

I would by the KJV - King James Ver. That's a personal bias of mine since it was the original translation.

The Holy Scriptures, Old and New Testaments, are the written Word of God, given by divine inspiration through holy men of God who spoke and wrote as they were moved by the Holy Spirit. In this Word, God has committed to man the knowledge necessary for salvation. The Holy Scriptures are the infallible revelation of His will. They are the standard of character, the test of experience, the authoritative revealer of doctrines, and the trustworthy record of God's acts in history. (2 Peter 1:20, 21; 2 Tim. 3:16, 17; Ps. 119:105; Prov. 30:5, 6; Isa. 8:20; John 17:17; 1 Thess. 2:13; Heb. 4:12.)

look at some of these Bible facts that I have found to be true:
A. Four world empires to arise: Babylon, Medo-Persia, Greece, and Rome (Daniel chapters 2, 7, 8).
B. Cyrus to be the warrior to capture Babylon (Isaiah 45:1-3).
C. After Babylon's destruction, it would never be inhabited again (Isaiah 13:19, 20; Jeremiah 51:37).
D. Egypt would never again have a commanding position among the nations (Ezekiel 29:14, 15; 30:12, 13).
E. Earth-shaking calamities and fear toward the end of time (Luke 21:25, 26).
F. Moral degeneracy and decline of spirituality in the last days (2 Timothy 3:1-5).

Do you really believe your mother and father would sacrifice you? Are you so righteous that God and Satan would make a bet to see if you would blaspheme God? Sure it happened in the Bible. But today, we don't sacrifice people because that goes against God's commandment, Thou shalt not kill. Should you abandon your belief in God because nobody has adequately interpreted your questions. If you truly seek a Bible that is right for you, try this>>>>> I have a computer program named SwordSearcher Complete Bible Suite. It has four different versions of the Bible, up to four interpretations for EVERY SINGLE VERSE IN THE BIBLE and cross references out the whazoo. It has hellped me IMMENSELY to understand passages that I couldn't understand before. You can probably find it at your Christian Book Store, where I found mine for about twelve dollars. It's the best 12 bucks I ever spent. Once you get it, you'll see there's MUCH, MUCH more than what I've mentioned here. It especially helped me to understand the cryptic writings of the book of Revelation. Don't give up on God, he hasn't given up on you.

ok, you are going to have way too many answers to handle...

get "the holy bible" (KJV preferably, but NIV should work too as long as you don't read the cliff notes) for the Christian religion. it's the only one that I have been able to find proof for, and even if you don't beleave it, it's got good rules to follow, and some good things to know that can really help you out through life... if it was written some random guy then he must have been darn smart! becouse he placed evedence of it's truth and wrote things in it that were said to come true, and some of them have. but I think that this bible does have religios truth to it, if you want help with that read "The Case for Christ" by Lee Strobel, it's a big book but if you get the student edition then you should be able to get the basics in a very short time. trust me, it's worth the effert, and don't get turned down by all the crazy people saying crazy stuff that is in no way supported by the bible.

note that Christians are the only people that have another religion spicificaly designed to be against them, one that has no other reason then to get rid of christians... it's known as Satenism, and they are not the kind of people you want to hang out with.
