2-5 pounds a week is a totally unrealistic goal. You will be setting yourself up for failure. Aim for 1/2 - 1 pound per week. Losing at that rate gives you a much better chance for keeping the weight off.

In addition to exercise, you need to eat a balanced healthy diet of fruits, vegetables, lean protein and whole grains. Also, drink plenty of water. Always eat at least 1200 calories per day.

For exercise, you want a balance of cardio and weight training. I use 12 pound free weights. You may want to start off with lighter weights. Slow repetition (not fast) is the key. Kathy Smith makes great weight training videos. Also, I highly recommend Pilates to strengthen your inner core. Anna Cabana has the best Pilates Mat video out there. For cardio, walk briskly twice a day if you can. Start out with 1.5 miles each time and work up to 4-5 miles each time (10 miles per day, every day).

Buy your videos on eBay and save lots of money.

Do you like to dance? Play your favorite upbeat cd and just dance around the apartment for 20-30 minutes 3 times a week. Its fun and you get your cardio work out. Plus, it will really lift your spirits. Also, a good stomache exercise is to lay flat on your back then raise both your legs and lower them very slowly, this is a great abs workout. I lost 4 inches in 6 weeks doing this. Good luck!

Sweep, mop and vacaum the floors; wash the pots, pans dishes by hand; scour and scrub the bathroom; clean the windows; paint the apartment...do all this while wearing wrist and ankle weights...when you're done then you can come over and work on mine...i guarantee you'll lose that weight!!!

Stomach cruches, push ups, etc. You can also use the stairs outside to help build your legs. Just go up and down.

Try Pilates, all you need is a soft mat (a couple blankets will work if you don't have one). I like winsor Pilates myself, she has modifications for beginners.
