Screw the X-14 irons you wont be able to hit them out of your shadow. Go with a set of Ping irons. Ping makes the best irons money can buy and at a reasonable price. Ping is tour preffered and if your looking for a set that will be relatively cheap, look into the older Ping I3 model. They will be marked down and they are a great set of irons.

pings aren't reasonably priced clubs. my suggestion is a used set of callaways or titleist. if you look on ebay, they have these sets in the price range you specified and most are in good condition. stick to cavity back irons. hybrids might be useful as well. but DO NOT get muscleback blades for any reason. go with something R flex for the shaft and go with graphite shafts instead of steel ones. driver? anything with a big head. 400cc or bigger. much easier to hit and more forgiving (you'll hear that term a lot in golf) than regular smaller head drivers. putter, totally up to you. go to a sporting goods store and play with the ones they have and see what's comfortable to you.
