One big difference. Your story needs to have Gary and Lou not exchange dialog before Gary lies to you.
Better analogy...
Lou is a multimillionaire that has decided to split his money amongst his friends. Gary has been his friend for almost forever they have been through thick and thin and you have come along relatively recently. Lou tells everyone that they’re getting an equal split, no one gets any more than anyone else.
This kinda ticks Gary off because he feels that he’s been hanging around and putting up with this putz’ nonsense for WAY longer so he should by all right get a bigger share. He shares this idea with a lot of Lou’s older friends and they’re starting to agree with him. They then decide that it’s in their best interest to take Lou’s money and distribute it themselves with the older friends getting more money. Obviously Lou cannot allow this and gets some of his remaining friends to help protect his money and try to get Gary and his other friends as far away as possible.
So now Gary, really ticked off, decides if he’s not going to get any money he’s going to make it to where as few people as possible do. So he starts telling you and Lou’s other loyal friends that Lou’s a scam artist. He has no intention of giving you any money and you should not bother being loyal to a friend that lies.
Lou didn’t tell Gary to lie about him. Gary simply has sour grapes and is trying to mess up the good time for the rest of us.
In the end it’s a gamble. Lou may really have no intention of giving us any money; in fact I’m not really his friend. I’ve never personally met the guy; it was my ancestors that were his friends. I just personally don’t see the harm in having a little faith that this guy will make good on his promise…especially when it does me no harm whatsoever.

The devil was not evil to begin with. He was an angel of light. But he led an angel rebellion and was cast out of heaven. Now he knows he's heading for the lake of fire, but he wants to take as many children of man along with him as he possibly can.
The story you tell doesn't make sense, really. But it leaves something out. Gary didn't tell Lou to lie to you. It was part of his nature.
God doesn't make us robots; He wants our free love and the service that shows our love. He created Satan, but not as the evil one. We are above Satan because we can change our minds and repent and he can't. He just sinned one time and it was over.

I guess we all wonder why does evil exists. I think the best explanation humaniny has found, is that good and evil are both sides of the same coin. There can not be good is there's no evil.
By the way, i don't think evil is always easier. Sometimes being good, and doing the right thing is and feels easy.

The mythographers of the Bible needed an excuse for why things are bad without having to blame God for it. So they created a Supreme Being of Evil to take the rap.

Can you imagine heaven where nothing bad happens nor even the risk of something bad happens? How boring would that be? We need a Devil. Makes life interesting.

That's one thing I never understood about Christianity. I practiced Jesus-worshipping for years and years, and I tried so hard to understand it. But it really makes no frigging sense.
Now I'm a Happy Heathen, lol.

I think I understand your analogy.
It is all pretty simple, to me.
God and Satan are playing chess, and we are the pawns. God wants a very selective few to serve him, praise him, and worship him for eternity in heaven. Everyone else can go to hell.
Hope this helps.
Peace

The devil is only a temptation. Come to think of it, it is good to have the devil around, because in him lies your strength to fight against evil. If there was only good in the world, then how would you know how good you are. Because of the temptations that come our way, in the form of a test to our conscience. So you see it is good to have evil around only you don't get involved with evil, but fight against it in a sensible way.

It's the free will thing, a lot of people just don't get it. It's the choice between good and evil, He wants us to choose good, but if there is no choice, we wouldn't be exercising any free will, would we?

The true test lies within your ability to choose, spiritual temptation and our own sinful natures must be overcome to truly have a relationship with God.
