It’s wrong to get something for nothing apparently and take someone's possesions for no reason. Of course some muslims do, but the laws of Islam forbid it.

Many muslims do not use banks or use muslim banks that pay no interest for exactly the same reason.

Islam condemns gambling for the same reasons that Christianity does - it promotes greed and selfishness, it shows a dissatisfaction with what God has provided for you.

Because of this, many Muslims do not gamble - but what about those who do?

Islam also teaches that someone will get to Paradise if their good deeds in life outweigh their bad deeds. Many Muslims live their lives hoping that they can get away with a lot of bad deeds (such as gambling), because they have enough good deeds to cover them.

It is a bit of a risk living life like that, but then they are gamblers!

Bismillahi Rahmani Rahim - In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful Hello. It is indeed forbidden for Muslims to gamble. It is mentioned in the Holy Qur'an: Qur'an 5:90 O ye who believe! intoxicants and gambling, (dedication of) stones and (divination by) arrows are an abomination of Satan's handiwork: shun such (abomination) that ye may prosper. Qur'an 2:219 They ask thee concerning wine (strong drink) and gambling. Say: "In them is great sin and some profit for men; but the sin is greater than the profit." They ask thee how much they are to spend (in Charity); say: "What is beyond your needs." Thus doth Allah make clear to you His Signs: in order that ye may consider. It really can't be any more plain than that. If she was indeed a Muslim, she was engaging in sinful behavior. As another person stated, it might be she wears the hijab for cultural reasons and she doesn't practice her religion. If that is the case, then may Allah guide her because she is certainly in need of that. We do all fall short since we are only human, but I personally find that dressing as I do makes me very conscious of how my actions will be perceived by others. It is a reminder for me that I am a role model, and I actually find it a blessing for that reason. I pray that Allah guides you to that which is best in this world and the next. Ameen. GAMBLING IS DETRIMENTAL TO HUMAN LIFE

A Perversion Brought About by Disbelief

In our day, gambling blights societies. Nevertheless, gambling continues to be one of the most profitable sectors. However, enormous amounts of money spent for pure pleasure, namely for gambling, could well be channelled to better purpose, i.e. to promote the public welfare.

The influence of gambling over people is entirely malignant. Society cannot afford gambling, which is also evident from the news in the newspapers and TV. People commit suicide due to debt, they cannot keep their family together, they suffer from depression, and even commit murder, since they gamble away what they amassed over years in only a few hours. This sector of the economy, established on broken families, ruined marriages, and money made outside the law, is a significant example of moral degeneration.

It is astonishing that gambling, which does so much harm to society, is extensively promoted. To make money out of gambling and legitimising it is surely not done by people who are listening to their consciences.

Those who allow gambling to become widespread in society, which is a source of mass suffering, confess to this vice when they themselves start to suffer from it. Until they meet such an undesirable end themselves, however, they cause many people to drift into a gloomy life.

Eradicating such conscienceless attitudes is only possible through adherence to the Qur'an. Allah defines gambling as filth and warns man to stay away from it:

"You who have iman! Wine and gambling, stone altars and divining arrows are filth from the handiwork of Satan. Avoid them completely so that hopefully you will be successful. Evil wants to stir up enmity and hatred between you by means of wine and gambling, and to debar you from remembrance of Allah and from salat. Will you not then give them up?" (Surat al-Ma'ida: 90-91)

Muslims DO gamble. I cite this News Story where a Muslim who lost to a Christian (not a real Christian but a Roman Catholic) and was a REALLY bad sport about it....

The short of it is that this disgruntled Muslim went to his Imam and the story was distorted so that revenge could be exacted on Christians - an excuse to reek havoc and destroy, they concocted a lie!

They riled up 1,500 Muslims by telling them that this Christian had in fact burned their Qurans in a Mosque (actually a 1-room School and was never burned down by anyone) which was burned down by this evil Christian man. They went on a blood lust rampage BURNING DOWN TWO CHURCHES BASED ON A MUSLIM RELIGIOUS CLERICS LIE!

To date there has been no outrage in the Muslim communities over this lie which caused so much damage. The just wanted an excuse to attack Christians.

Islam clerics may lie and stir up the people with immunity. Muslims can gamble, can lie and do lie, with the blessings of Muslim clerics. Don't believe me? Its in the travel brochures for Muslims when they travel abroad - that they may lie to and curse infidels. The News Story proves the point to a point.

Because of these facts - when a Muslim tells you that Islam is of peace and they do not embrace the terror tactics - I have to suspect that it is a religiously sanctioned lie to gain converts - and that is permissable in Islam.

Aaliya's answer is excellent.
Islamic economic law is based on justice.
Gambling creates poverty, misery and family problems, it rarely helps anyone. It makes the poor poorer, basically.
This is also why Islam bans interest, it makes the poor poorer and the rich richer.
If anyone wants to make money they should get up and work for it.

They do that because the people who gamble away all there money turn out to be losers....gambling is a huge risk to take. Also, the money that people win is dirty money. That money is the cash that everyone lost when they played.

Hope I helped!

Because it is anti-social. Practices susceptible of harming the individual or the community (such as drinking alcohol, taking drugs or gambling) are haram, forbidden under the Islamic law
