Do you notice when you talk to people who are "religious" that some not all of them think that you are making a joke about your atheism. Or have you seen that they think that you "hate God" and thats why you are an atheist.

Well, actually I think they have me all figured out:

I'm an immature teenager who really believes in god but is just trying to get a rise out of them for no good reason. I was also raised by devil worshiping, ACLU card carrying, liberal, heathen, abortionists who drive Volvos.

I have no real arguments to offer them since everything in the bible is 100% true. When I find things in the bible that are contradictory then I am just missing the holy spirit. When I find things in the bible that are violent and evil, I'm misinterpreting it, when I find things that are flat out laughable in, it like UNICORNS, then I'm reading it out of context. When I ask why I can't see the Holy Spirit, I'm being a wise-***.

When I say blasphemous things then the devil is making me do it.
When I ask why god allows there to be evil, then I have free will.
When I say you should be nice to gay people, I am a sinner.
When I say that Jesus wouldn't condemn people for their lifestyle, I'm doing the devil's work.

I am everything they say I am. They have me all figured out.

Don't get mad at me... I'm not an atheist. But I get equally annoyed at my fellow Christians who feel the need to "save" everyone who doesn't share their beliefs. Atheists don't hate God. The very definition of atheism is not believing in God, and most of the atheists I know don't "hate" anything. They are generally very intelligent and happy with their lives, they just refuse to believe in God. I don't argue, but I do share my beliefs and I listen to their reasons for not believing. I never judge or condemn them because that's just not my job. I pray for their happiness and God's blessings on their lives. How they live and what they believe is their choice, and I respect that because I want them to do the same for me.

The only thing I get from people is "I hope you find God one day". One can say they are atheist in belief but if you are truly a rational thinker than agnostic would be the right choice. I for one believe there is no God but if he happened to come before me one day and say that yes, I do exist, then I would worship him till death. I would be a little uneasy about it at first as would anyone changing a belief but I would eventually. How to worship him is a different story all in itself.

all the "serious" christians i have talked to in an openly religious context have seemed to me to be assuming that atheism is a pose, that i use to cover up the fact that i am scared to commit to their religion.

this is interesting to me, because i think it is a form of transferance, since in my opionion a religion is something that is used by its adherants to fight the fear that they feal dealing with complex issues about the way the world works, but meh, im a godless heathen, what would i know.

Well a lot of the time I get all kinds of various responses to my "lack of faith." I find it funny that while the religious demand respect of their faith, they show little respect for my athiesm. To this I say, "You can't have your cake and eat it too!" If a religious person tries to convert me, why can't I try to convert them back? They think that all athiests are either in league with Satan, or that they hate god, as opposed to having an equilly strong belief that their athiesm is right.

Same as those neocon morons - if you criticize Bush, they say 'why do you hate freedom'

Religious people are essentially irrational and hence are unable to mount any rational defense of their religion (hardly surprising as there isn't any) and just rely on emotional type responses to help them prop up the psychological crutch of their belief.

Yes. Either I hate god or something terrible has happened to me and I blame god. Both of these thoughts are silly of course. It is hard to hate or blame something you do not believe in.

Yep. 'There is no such thing as an atheist.' 'I think you're just angry because something bad happened to you.' 'Why do you hate Jesus? Don't you know that Jesus loves you?' 'You must believe in God because if you can talk about something and arguse about something, then you believe it exists.'

We don't really need to parody them, you know. They write it themselves.

Church girls are the biggest hoes on earth. I remember years ago when I was in high school, they had a religous group called young life and all the girls in that group were hoes, it was cool. They were the girls getting wasted and doing us in the bathroom or in someones parents room at house parties.
