Go bowling, take a swim, 18 holes of golf?
Just what is it you expect to be able to do on an airplane, when you're crammed in to a long pressurized aluminum can with 100 total strangers and tied down to a chair?
Buy a book and learn to read, or better yet... Learn to spell!

Dell and Penny Press have great variety puzzle books, there is bound to be something in there you would like- there is a nice variety so you won't get bored doing the same puzzles over and over. Catch up on some reading, find a book or two on some subjects you are interested in - something regarding your hobby or a hobby you would like to start.

Well if the plane ride is boring, you might get a portable DVD player, if you don't have one, you could borrow one from a friend...and I find puzzle books very amusing so that may help you from getting very bored. I also enjoy reading magazines on airplanes...

Books are pretty handy for this kinda thing - the library has them for as cheap as it gets, too - free! (But only if you're going to be able to return the books, of course...you didn't mention if this was a one way trip or not.)
I'd be glad to recommend some great reading if you're interested!
