After a job interview, would it be wrong to send the interviewer a thank you letter? And what do you think it should say? Thanks

You should always send a thank you note thanking them for their time and reaffirming your interest in the position. A handwritten note is best - a typed letter looks like a form letter, whereas a handwritten note (legible, of course!) appears that you made more of an effort, and it will stand out among all of the typed letters that they receive.

Absolutely send a thank you letter after every job interview. All you have to say in the note is a simple, "thank you for your time.". The very act of a hand written note to someone says that you care and gives that person with whom you interviewed an impression that you really want the job.

P.S. Use a lttle note card, not a letterhead. A personal touch goes a long way.

Yes its an acceptable practice just express your thanks for the interview and don't make a big deal of it. And don't you wish interviewers would send you a letter telling why you didn't get the opening. That would be constructive information I feel.
Yes it does show you pay attention to tiny details and that's a good point in any person being considered for a position. I'm not saying to send a thank you for a job at Micky D's.

I wouldn't send a thank you letter. I would see it as trying too hard. (I used to interview dozens of new employee candidates each month at my old job) However, when someone would call me, about a week or so after I'd interviewed them to "Check on the status of their application" it would impress me. It shows responsibility, professionalism, determination and follow through. Many of the qualities the interviewer is looking for! Good Luck!

Always send a letter. It should say thank you for the opportunity to meet with them and something about hoping to have the chance to work with them in the future.

Nothing wrong about it. Thank them for the interview and tell them again you hope you get the job and are anxious to hear from them.

Send a professionally worded, but handwritten thank you note, preferably a plain patterned card that is blank inside. Something as simple as "it was a pleasure meeting wth you, I enjoyed learning about the opportunity, I look forward to hearing from you"...or something along those lines.

it could be good or bad, it might be taken as your tactic to sweet talk them to get the job.
