If your in a state where the seller takes off their plate or if the vehicles reg is expired most DMV's have one trip moving permits from point A to point B. If the plates are there and reg is current, just take it home. Most car insurance covers a new car for 10- 30 days, check with your current policy. Take the cars title or ownership papers to your local homes DMV. Keep in mind duplicate title forms, lien sale, or paperless title documents are not transferable titling documents in other states ( those must be transfered in the state they were issued); Good luck.

Call your insurer back home, and give them the info. on the car so you are covered.

If you have a car, and wish to transfer the tags, call the DMV in your state. Let them know you will be placing the tag on the new car. Make sure you have the bill of sale with you in the new car in case you get stopped. Also, make sure you get the title if you are paying cash.

Your DMV will tell you what to do about temp. tags if you aren't transferring tags. DRIVE SAFELY!!

Call your insurance company to inform them of your purchase so the car is covered. Then you will have to register the car in your home state and get the new plates for it too. Otherwise you will be towing the car home. There are shipping companies that can do this for you. DAS is one that i know of, (Dependable Auto Shippers), they may insure the vehicle for you while it is in transit.
good luck
