Dear all, I am a 24 year old girl. I am very healthy and has never had any major problem, surgery etc. A week ago I woke up suddenly with a sharp pain in the back of my left eye. Back then it was just in the eye and had no headaches. The same day I went for a complete checkup at my eye doctor and he said it was probably stress or forcing/straining my eyes studying for my test. This week however, for the past 4 days I have also experienced headaches. As though the eye pain projects to the head as well- like a burning iron is on my head. I am scared to DEATH. Can this be a brain tumor? stress?

Please call you doctor's office back and tell them the headaches/eye pain are continuing. Tell them your pain level on a scale of 1 (being the least pain) to 10 (imagine the worst pain you could ever feel.)

Don't let it go. If it hurts that bad and they won't see you, go to the closest emergency room.

Do not project that you have cancer. Most headaches are stress related--NOT brain tumors.

Good luck!

Hi Alicita,
If you've been having severe headaches for the last 4 days I think you should at the very least call your doctor to let them know. It may just be stress but I think you should have it checked out, either with him or just go to the ER if it's really severe. I know it's hard but try not to be scared. What you don't want to do is ignore your body. By making sure that this isn't something serious (which it most likely isn't :o) you'll be able to put your mind at ease.
Good Luck and keep us posted. I'll remember you in my prayers.

You need to see a regular doctor and have more tests, like CAT scan or MRI or even x-rays. It could be anything from a headache or migrane to a brain tumor. It is probably a headache and should be treated by taking yoga and breathing practice.
But you should check with a doctor just in case it is something else.

My family, nurses and preachers. I've seen both, a tumor is a growth in or on the brain. Where the aneurysm is a vein within the brain that blows and leaks blood into the surrounding tissue. most people die of the aneurysm, which is fast. Standing there talking and they are gone. Of the two take the aneurysm.

You should see your regular doctor, not an eye doctor this time. That is a pretty common site for headaches. Make sure you express your concerns to your doctor. He will refer you to a neurologist for an MRI if necessary. Good luck and try not to worry.

p.s. my mom had a brain tumor and her primary symptoms were nausea, seizures and forgetfulness.

Sounds like a really bad headache. Go to a doctor of medicine, skip the eye doctor.

You seem to discribe icepick headache or cluster headache...try OTC Advil or mothrin...One week course without other neurologic deficite is too short to consider brain tumour...if your eyes are checked and you do not have any other problem except headache, nothing wrong with giving motrin or indocin a week to work. If god forbid it IS a tumor (unlikely), it won't kill you in a week....MRIs are expensive.

First don't stress because it gonna be worst. Second go see a doctor in emergency hospital because it look like worst but don't panic, the doctor know what they do and they keep you in life. I'm so sorry for you, but i understand you and i don't think it's a tumor.

It may be physiological in origin. But it may also be a warning sign. Go back to your doctor and ask for a scan. Good luck.

We aren't doctors and can't give you an MRI. If you're really concerned about the pain call your PRIMARY CARE DOCTOR. He/she can tell you for sure.
