At a gas station that I've never been to.
I had a "Pre-Paid" legal tag on my keys ... well, my roommate grabbed my keys by mistake and then left them in the bathroom at a gas station.
I got a call from the gas station, and they told me they had my keys and got my phone number from my pre-paid legal service tag. I drove and got them (with my spare set), very perplexed on how they made it so far without me ... but my roommate did fess up other wise I'd still be pondering how they got all the way across town.

At the beach,... the next day!
I spent two hours the day before trying to find my stinkin keys.
I took a cab home and came back the next day with my spare set.
My beautiful 3 year old daughter was with me the second day. We put our blanket down in same general area as the day before. Low and behold, my daughter was building a sand castle and dug up the keys!!!!

I looked everywhere for my car keys and after two days had them replaced, house key etc., Then two weeks later I had to go to the trunk to put something in and there they were hanging from the trunk lock. I was lucky no one took them and no one, stranger, friend nor foe told me they were there that whole time.

I am President of a neighborhood association and at one meeting gave some door prizes contributed by local businesses. One of the recipients called me afterwards and said she had found my car keys in one of the baskets; she wanted to know if she had won my car.

Found my car keys after searching for two hour or so. It dropped inside my sports shoes. I came home, removed and kept my shoe in a shoe box, with stuffed socks into the shoe, overlaid the shoes shoe in a plastic bag, and kept them in a cabinet.
Made me mad and I wanted to eat my shoes.
