RE:
My refrigerator isn't cold anymore?
It's plugged in and everything because the light is on, and it seems to be making its usual whirring noise... But the stuff in the fridge (and the freezer) is getting less and less cold. Is there like a filter or something on the back of the fridge that I should check? I have no idea what to do...

Put everything into coolers. borrow a friends freezer for the frozen stuff. unplug it. let it sit for the day. it needs a good defrost be careful... there will be a lot of water. NO filters in fridges, there is a defrost drip tray under it though...accessible if you pop off the vent like thing on the bottom front. You might want to vacuum the bottom out of the dust, not good for the fan and motor.
This will be the cheapest way to diagnose the problem. Plug it back in in the late evening or better yet morning. see if it is better.
If not ... you will need a repairman... of a friend who knows these things something... the next thing might be a bad defrost timer, ....there are a lot of other things but what I said it YOUR best bet on diagnosis.

Eeeek!
I know how you're feeling, this happened to me in my first apartment, and I almost started crying, haha.
I called the maintenance men in my complex, and they plugged it back in and it started to make the usual noise. It just takes a little while for the food to get back up to the temperature it should be at. If it doesn't, call the maintenance department.
Good luck!

It's usually dirty or dusty condenser coils, vacuum them off if that doesn't get the unit running colder have someone check the refrigerant it's one of the freons depending on how old the unit is

Try defrosting if your refrigerator is not the automatic defrosting type. The excessive ice formed inside the freezer will act like an insulator I believe. If it still does not work, the system may be short of gas.

If the refrig is older (over 5 years), something may have gone bad. I wouldn't wait long. Start calling appliance repairman this morning.
