been there, and beat it, with medication lots of reading books on the subject to understand it, family and friends support, its very hard to get over, but you can get over panic attacks, you have to remember that that's what they are just panic attacks, they cannot kill your or hurt you in any way, its all in your mind, no one has ever died from a panic attack, its the fear of the panic itself that brings it on, when you get one don't fight it just go with it, learn how to breath when you get one, and keep telling yourself that it cannot hurt you you have to learn how to control this yourself, good luck you will be fine i promise,

Some of these answers are downright nuts. You're not going crazy! It just feels like it. Try going crazy.... see?, you can't do it! I found a wonderful book that explains panic disorder and tells you how to get rid of it. I had major recurrent depression with two suicide attempts and this book literally saved my life. It's all about confronting your fears and restructuring your thinking so that the panic goes away. I've been well for over a year now. After five years of misery, it's truly a blessing. Read my story and get the book:

You can go see a doc if you want meds and stuff, but if you want to be normal again, meds won't do it. Trust me, I know.

You should see a doctor and a counselor. The doctor will determine whether you need medication and you should see the counselor to find out why you are having the panic attacks and fear of leaving your house. If you find out why this is happening you can make the changes in your life and you might only need medication for a short time.

Hope this helps. Good luck.

Yes. You need to see a doctor. I had panic attacks from belonophobia and it was getting in the way of my health care so I was given an anti-anxiety pill and it helped a lot!

I've been there too.....I would suggest going to the doctor & if you would rather not take pills, therapy & talking about your problems might help. Sometimes therapy works better than pills.....

Also try to track what triggers the panic & try to avoid or lessen it....Avoid situations that cause your panic....Like for me it was a stressful job that I had to get out of....when I changed jobs the panic attacks got much better.....its not always that simple, but its something to think about...

Yoga is your best choice. Start a yoga class. If you don't like yoga then aikido or tai chi. But get in a physical discipline right away. You need to get connected to be inside your body comfortably. You can help this problem without pills. Yoga.
Find a local yoga teacher online or in the phone book. If you don't like the first one, try another one. Also consider NIA, soul motion, continuum, body choir and stuff like that. But good to start with yoga.

As one who has been there you must seek medical help. Get medication to at least get the crisis over then you can start working on the underlying root causes. Panic attacks are/can be very scary and debilitating, it is important to remember that you are not alone, and that they will pass.

It's the best choice to going to your doc and you can assist the therapy by doing some sports, because sports causes a boosted distribution of endorphins. This endorphins make you feel happier and raise your self-confidence!
But go to your doctor, he must help you to do the first step!
