a better place? look around u at what's going on in the world today that's the direct result of peeps saying no. I said yes to Jesus 15 years ago the wisest thing I ever did I would never turn my back on HIM not for anyone or anything.
Have u even tried Jesus? Have u read the word? Have u even really prayed? If not do that first then talk to me.

I don't think Jesus was a bad person, I just don't believe he was the son of god. There was a religious study recently (by Christians) who concluded that Jesus didn't say 80% of what they claimed he said in the bible.

I'm not a Christian any longer and am much happier - the fear I felt as a Christian is gone. I think most religions only hurt us.. just think how many wars and massacres have occured in the name of god over the years.

But, that said, I have to add... some people DO need something like religion to keep them busy/cope with life. If it helps you, so be it. I just find it reprehensible that so much violence (wars) and hatred (for those of other religions and for the GLBT community, for example) has occured as a result of Christianity (as well as some other religions).

Check out Tom Harpur's book "The Pagan Christ". It may open your eyes to another view of Jesus.

At present the most visible, and least admirable, versions of Christianity are busy using the name of Jesus Christ to justify their hatreds and bigotries, to excuse their excesses and brand their version of politics with an undeserved annointment.

In Harpur's book we see the concept of a Jesus Christ who is allegorical, not historical, and represents the spirit of God within us, the call to a higher state of mind and consciousness, the drive to do and be good. It is a message told through the allegory of all the great spiritual leaders of the past, including: the Buddha; Krishna; Zoroaster; Osiris; Horus; Heracles and, yes, Jesus.

No need to turn away from your own inner, better self. Turn away from those who want to use the Christos as a Santa Claus like figure, if you want to turn away at all.

I am an atheist, and I don't believe that everyone else should be.

It keeps most of the people in check, for fear of their eternal suffering, as compared to if no one thought there was a god and do not fear killing or at least harming anyone for they can just kill themselves and not suffer/be punished "in the afterlife".

Unfortunately, it also breeds the fundamentalist minority, which do the opposite, and believe that they'll have eternal happiness for doing it.

Well, that or the reverse, like killing is the majority.

I believe only those who could subscribe to a social contract (or law) maturely should become an atheist without any problems.

For those that are left after the rapture, everyone will say no to jesus and hell will break out on earth. You will find out then, what the world will be like without Jesus. You will also find out in the next life.

Not me! If everyone were to say yes to Jesus, and no to ignorantly following misguided "leaders" of organized religion, the world would be a much better place. Don't rip on Jesus for what a few bad, confused and ignorant people have done.

Not me I totally believe in Jesus. The world is already headed for damnation because not enough people believe. It is the people that put the world in the state it is in now.People have no morals and have gone wild and so many people wonder why the world is like it is. How does people expect a world to stand with all the horrible things that go on it it?

i honistly think the world would be a better place with out religion
because back in the day they made up "gods" and other stuff just so the could easyly explane stuff that they couldent back then,
but now religeon is causing more hate then love and all that
because different people have different gods and belifes and that makes wars happen and stuff

Infact the whole world says no to Jesus. We all do things that hurt god, thats a way of rejecting him.
But the best part of Jesus is that He never says no to us.
" Does a Mother forget her baby ? or a woman a child within her womb? Yet even if these forget, I shall never forget MY OWN.
I knew you even before you were born, I formed you in your mothers womb, I called you By Name, I have carved you on the palms of my hand, My love for you is steadfast... These are a few verses from the Bible which says that he will never forsake or reject us.

If his followers would wake up to the fact that the historical Jesus and the one the worship, which is plagiarized from older 'crucified savior' legends, are two different people entirely it would help.
