My friends brother is quite bright and wants a good job but he has had his mobile stolen twice and has a knife for his own protection and when he is older he wants a gun if things dont get improved which I personally think should happen. I can vote but should I if nothings going to happen?

if you feel strongly enough about something write to your representative about it, start a lobby group, join a political party (or even start your own).

but if you have a vote and you don't use it: when s*** happens - it's your fault.

Nothing will change unless people vote for things to change. Voting is your only chance to ahve a say in how the country should be run. I've always said that if a person doesn't vote, then they ahve no right to critisise things if they go wrong, they obviously don't care what happens.

Even better than voting, you should run for office and then you can actually change things. If you want something to happen try to get in a position that you can make it happen yourself.

yes but vote for people who you agree with, and who you think will do a good job of representing your interests and concerns, some one able to put a premium on your local neighbourhood and your 'small caps' life. Vote locally, town councils, city hall, these small elections matter as much as the big ones.

i believe as a US citizen, that if you do not vote then you have no right to a voiced opion of what does go on here in the US because you did not choose to try to help when you could.....(not trying to be ugly just my opion)

Because it is the only way you have any influence over politicians, they do what the voters want.

all the polititians are the same, only in it for the money, the ones who speak the truth are branded rascist. and by the way, im not rascist myself, i hate everybody equally....;)

they say every vote counts, i keep voting every year, it counts, if everyone gave up then no one we wanted would get in, its worth trying x
