foreskin removal has been touted as the cure for masturbation, urinary tract infection, many psychological disorders, and now AIDS.

The problem is, that the thing it is supposed to cure keeps changing.

This video points that out well.

oh, it's also been said to cure cancer of the penis in the 50s, and then cervical cancer in women....

the list goes on, but crucially,

it keeps changing

what is the one thing about foreskin removal that is so important to us that we must justify it by any means, at all costs?

well i know for one thing, it is an exercise in both physical and psychological desensitisation.

children are too sensitive for adults

Indeed it is promoted as curative, or preventative, for whatever ailment the population has been instructed to fear most. See for example:

"The most effective memes are simple and couple the behaviour with something universally agreed to be good:

God said we must circumcise
All the nicest people are circumcised / Circumcision is American
Circumcised penises are cleaner
Circumcision protects against AIDS (or cancer or UTIS or STDs
or whatever is the most feared disease of the day)"

Never heard any of those things about foreskin removal. I know it's done for hygenic reasons.

And your comment about foreskin removal curing cervical cancer in women is totally off the wall. Women don't have a penis, therefore no foreskin to remove.... Do a little more research on the subject.

Try to help educate people on this. There are many young people, especially women, on this site having babies and making this decision every day. You can reach them through their questions and make them reconsider circumcision. However, culture is strong. I recently found out that a man who was uncircumcised decided to circumcise his male child. That was also the case with my dad- he wanted his sons circumcised. So it's not easy fighting cultural norms. But you should keep educating people on here and in your community.

If the mind is in the crotch...then, yes, removal helps prevent disease that is on the mind.

Too bad it isn't a cure for rampant paranoia. I'd recommend that you get one done immediately.
