Why is the Christian God such a peeved deity and why do people think a peeved deity is a good thing?

God only gets "peeved" at wickedness. Righteousness, on the other hand, pleases Him. This is simply a function of the fact that God cares what we do.

People who believe in a God who cares about righteousness and wickedness take comfort in this knowledge because it means that the righteousness people do will someday be rewarded, and it means the wickedness people do will someday be punished, even if those rewards and punishment don't take place in this life. People who don't believe in such a God have no such hope, and for them life is just a random series of actions without even a guiding principle of "what goes around, comes around" to keep them secure (as there would have to be somebody out there to make what went around come back around).

By the way, usually people who complain about God's being "peeved" all the time don't really have a problem with His being "peeved" -- they're just concerned about how "peeved" He is at them.

A better question would be "why is God..." (not just Christian God) as most religions share the same God only different prophets. Religions need a "peeved" God or there is no unifying thread and, with everything perfect, there would be no NEED for God and he would die in a puff of logic

Maybe because he is? We don't just make stuff up because we like it. Why do you assume that? Wouldn't you get upset at an insolent race that you created that ignores some simple rules requiring people to be nice to each other simply because it is inconvenient to care?

With all due respect, if you don't understand how God could be so upset at the human race, go watch the news sometimes. Humans are really selfish and cruel.

Why do people act surprised that God has enough self-confidence to stand up for himself? At least he clearly communicates to us what he is upset about (unlike a human, who would make you guess :-)) . I take it that the idea that all of us are accountable for our selfish behavior, and our insolence of him, is unsettling to some.

I get the impression that many people now a days are too immature to accept a God who puts his foot down and asks us to grow up; we want a senile grandfather in Heaven who will wink at all of our rude, cruel & selfish behavior like justice didn’t matter.

But, as C.S. Lewis noted, if someone really loves you, then that person wants to see you become a better person; God cares about us too much to allow us to remain the jerks that we are.

P.S.: Most of us are too blind to our own faults to understand why anyone would be offended at US. Maybe that is why is it so surprising to find out that God is upset. We are too egotistical to understand that we really aren’t perfect after all, and need a kick in the butt to motivate us to improve.

When the movement started by Jesus was kidnapped by the Roman Emperor Constantine, in 325 A.D., many elements of pagan worship were added to it, so that anybody could join the new church. That's why we have christmas, easter, SUNday, etc. The Creator is a loving, patient, and wise parent. Unfortunately, many of those who claim to be His followers, keep pushing the image of a punishing, intolerant, and hateful diety. This is a real shame, and does much harm to the lives of those seeking Him. He says to us in Isaiah, "Come, let us reason together". Does this sound like the kind of God who would demand a living sacrifice because we violated His Law? And does this sound like a God who would place His errant children into a lake of fire to be tortured in front of those who are saved forever? These false images of our Father, were brought forth to intimidate poor, uneducated masses of people in less enlightened times, to submit to the power of the church, and her clergy. When you get to know Him better, and you will ("If you seek Me, you will find Me, if you seek Me with all of your heart"), you will find Him to be the most loving, wise, and wonderful being you will ever meet. Imagine the most wonderful person who could ever exist, and He is much more wonderful than that. Be patient. You are dealing with the non-material. It takes time to get comfortable operating in the realm of Spirit. You will find all that you are seeking.

The gay lifestyle is an abomination to God. This means it’s disgusting an abhorrence, a feeling of repugnance or loathing.

Those who promote this lifestyle have a darkened heart and have become fools by their own perverted mind. Their acts are a disgrace of vile affections doing unseemly passions of infamy. Vain in their imaginations they are morally wicked. They defile themselves through the lusts of their own hearts. It’s indecency, dishonour, and unclean.

But they can’t reserve this life style or death style to themselves, they want to destroy others by promoting it. They want special rights and ungodly unions recognized as marriage.

Most people could be tolerant as long as this vile death style was not so public. But by promoting this abomination it is impossible to be tolerant, unless you are deceived. Because this would be tolerance of destroying of souls and destruction of our society. Being blinded into acceptance of this repugnant death style will cease God’s blessings.

Now everyone is a sinner and falls short. Christ has set us free from the bondage of sin. Upon repentance we are forgiven. Our sins can be blotted out no more to be remembered. That’s the whole purpose of this flesh life. To defeat Satan (death) legally and to offer salvation to whomsoever.
