When you get those dirty looks, sister, shine back a bright smile. They will be confused. You get the dirty looks because they don't know enough about earthbased religion. They want to believe you do worship the devil. They do not want their dogma to be challenged, and so they don't WANT to know the truth. They would rather condemn it. So know that when you get those dirty looks, they are dirtying themselves, they are breeding hatred and ignorance. Shine back brightly, and care not rather they smile or not. The Lord and Lady will see to it that they be taught, one way or another. I, as most other Wiccans, don't even believe in Satan. Because the Creator does not make mistakes and that Everything is of that divine creation. I do, however, believe that there is a little bit of "devil" in all of us, because we are spirit souls living in animal bodies. Those animalistic traits- greed, hatred, lust, we must purge. This is called enlightenment. For those who would tell you that you'll burn in hell- tell them you'll see them there, my friend! and shine your smile. Disregard that BULLSHITE.

I don't know. I used to be a Christian (was raised Catholic) but never ever looked down on other people for being something else, I just figured everyone was a religion that worked for them and left it alone at that. After a while, I decided to no longer be a Christian.. I'm much happier.
But now when people find out I'm not a Christian, they shake their heads, look at me disapprovingly and tell me again what I've already heard for the 18 years when I was a Christian: "Jesus is the only way" as if I haven't heard that already 100 million times.
I just tell them, I used to be a Christian, I'm not anymore (I'm agnostic) and that I honestly would not have left the religion after so many years if I didn't give it some serious thought. They just tell me I'm going to hell and that they feel sorry for me.
Ignore it, tell them that until they study Wicca (real Wicca and not what they heard on a religious program), then they can be qualified to talk to you about it. And add that you won't push them to be Wiccan if they won't push you to be Christian.
P.S. To the other posters who won't listen, for the thousandth time, Wiccans do NOT WORSHIP the devil NOR DO THEY BELIEVE IN THE DEVIL!!!!!!!!!!!!

You have to keep living your life, regardless of what others think or say or do. Xians, for the most part, are ignorant, even of their own faith. Most xians think they're cool with the Heavenly Father if they go to church on Sundays and pay their tithes. And, for most xians, xianity is something they can pick up and put down any time they like.
Xianity is a religion of convenience. How many CEO's of corporations go to church faithfully then turn around and fire thousands of people to increase thier profit margin? How many Xians run American Oil Companies!? They don't follow the Rede (Do as ye will, and harm none.) They don't contemplate the consequences of thier actions, otherwise they would know better than to approach the world with anything other than perfect love. Think about it, how holy can a person be who spreads evil and hatred everywhere they go? How righteous is a person whose God allows them only to love one another and commands that they hate everyone else on the planet? How spiritually lax and full of pride must they be to actually believe that the entire Earth was put here for their use and that they can control the forces of nature?
Don't let small people get to you. And don't think that, just because the majority of them are ignorant, that they are ALL ignorant. I have an uncle who is a xian minister with a large following. He has a Ph.D is Theology and is a very holy man. None of his titles mean anything though. When he and I sit down to talk, it is with the utmost respect for his Path and my own. We are both just people, trying to figure things out. So long as you approach things with Love, eventually--even xians--will come to know Truth and Truth is the common ground of All Faith.
Just keep an open mind when meeting new Xians. Always respond to their hate with love.

Most people don't know the definition of wiccan. I'm not sure if I know. Doesn't it mean that you believe in witches? It is not the same thing as a devil worshiper, but it is similar, if it is what I think it is. Why tell people what you are? It is no one's business. Maybe the people who know, are somewhat, intimidated, by the word Wiccan.

Because most (not all) christian people are NASTY! !!!
I was at an airport once and I had a pentacle pendant on my neck and some woman walks up to me and tells me I'm going to hell.
HOW ARROGANT!!! that she thinks she's in charge. And how insulting to think that she is better than me. I hate the followers of that weird imaginary friend of theirs.
Xians and most all other religions (yes especially islam) are made up of the nastiest people in the world.
I always get emails from islamist telling me I'm going to burn in the fires of hell. I just think they are so f-kd up.
Oh and milkman... you are an ignorant a~s!!
Wiccans do not beleive there is a devil you idiots !!!

Man, people, I have a lot of sympathy for you. You've rightly pointed out the hypocrisy of some of the Christians you have met.
And Jesus is very clear about how Christians are supposed to love people (i.e., serve them, want the best for them, treat them with dignity and respect and compassion) -- he even said that "anyone can love a friend, but real love is being able to love a [perceived] enemy."
And, unfortunately, there are a lot of Christians more interested in pigeonholing people as enemies than actually trying to serve.
Due to U.S. prosperity and comfort, the Western version of the faith has been in decline for decades and in some ways is little but a joke. I was just talking to a friend (associate pastor) last night who spent a few weeks discoursing with Muslims in England. While obviously he has problems with some Muslim teachings, he is still respectful of them as people (admires them in some ways) and was very receptive to their criticisms. He told me that, as a representative of the West, he was left feeling "morally bankrupt" by some of their accurate criticisms -- and when he returned home, he felt oppressed by being immersed in such a dead and distracted form of the Christian faith.
So please don't think that the "faith itself" is what is the mess. There are many, MANY Christians who you'd be surprised to find who agree with some of the problems you've mentioned here -- and are disappointed with where things are, and yet can only really work on making their own lives reflect Jesus's teachings.
Many of the cultural Christian institutions (the religious right identification of religion with politics, the "consumer" mentality about faith being a commodity to be customized rather than something to be served, the tendency to mistake doctrine [rather than action] for faith, as some examples) are locked in place and maintain themselves fastidiously and will not disappear quickly.
[If you want to see real Christianity, take a look at the "pressure zones" like Africa, the Middle East, and the Far East, where to be a Christian is not a matter of social comfort and convenience but usually means great personal sacrifice.]
Still, some of the blanket generalizations here have been bothersome to me, from an intellectual standpoint. I did note that some of you were careful to point out "exceptions" to the negative Christian stereotype, but laden in the text was often still some disdain and/or contempt for these people who have offended you and, by association, Christianity in general.
I think "attitude" is what kills real love. None of us are "better" than anyone else. The Wiccan who returns contempt on Christians for any contempt s/he perceives is as guilty as the Christians s/he is upset with. No one gets a free pass. How we respond to an aggressor has to be evaluated in the same light as we evaluate the aggressor.
I also try hard not to "read into" someone's look, because I know sometimes I can misinterpret people's intentions. Why should I contribute to my own victimization? I usually wait for some particular actions or comments to determine someone's attitude towards me.
The thing is, even then, people are often double-minded or are not sure how to enact their belief system in real life. We fumble constantly with trying to understand the implications of our faith and practicing it in the most appropriate way.
Some of the people who inadvertently end up sounding offensive are actually trying their best and simply failing to get it right. I find it serves me little purpose to take their comments personally or belittle them for their failures; it usually only mires everyone down.
If they do mean to be contemptuous, then ... well, if I am confident that I am believing what is right, then their opinions really don't matter much. And if they don't mean to come across that way, my aggressive reaction is simply perpetuating the problem and also tainting myself.
I don't know where I'm going with any of this, to be honest. These are just my thoughts as a Christian reading this thread. Everyone must guard their own hearts and make sure they have proper attitudes towards others, even if the "others" in question don't seem to be trying to do the same.

Oi, please, ignore their ignorance, and as someone else suggested, flash them a dazzling smile and move on with your day.
No one on earth has the right to judge you for your beliefs or practices, not even those people who think themselves so high and mightily righteous.
Some people are just that stupid, it's their way or the highway. You don't need people like them dragging you down. :)

If you are not a follower of our Father in Heaven, then you must be a follower of satan, because satan is connected to anything that is not of God.
