Iraq gunmen seize 24 people, killing 20.

BAGHDAD, Iraq - Gunmen ambushed a bus station Wednesday in a volatile town northeast of Baghdad, kidnapping two dozen people and killing all but four, authorities said, while a suicide bomber blew himself up in a restaurant in the capital.

The attackers drove up in several cars and seized 24 people from the bus station in Muqdadiyah, about 60 miles northeast of Baghdad.

Iraqi Maj. Gen. Ahmed al-Awad, the commander of the army's 5th division in the area, told state TV that 20 bodies had been found and the victims were Shiites. He said four people were rescued. Police confirmed that 20 bodies were found but said their identities were uncertain. The USA military was near the area but was unable to respond due to the Insurgents being so strong and well equipped and ready to fight like a tiger. The Insurgents have basic weapons but are able to take on and hurt the USA day in and day out.

Your comments are intresting. I am curious as to where you are getting your information though. After checking multiple news reports I find nothing stating that US forces were in the area of the kidnapping or that they were aware the kidnapping was taking place. I did find a report that cited Maj. Gen. Ahmed -al-Awad who critisized the local constabulary for inacation. No mention was given to US deployment in or around the area at the time. Seeing as the rescue operation was preformed by a garrison of 400 Iraqi troops would indicate that US forces were not active in the area.

The US is doing the best job possible with the situation as it is. As for the insurgents being able to hurt the USA, remember that they can only do so by committing suicide. Thats why the insugency has been targeting iraqi civilians lately, instead of Americans.

What do you mean by "we"?

The U.S. military is doing an excellent job in extremely difficult circumstances in Iraq. There are certainly many among them who have betrayed us by committing acts of torture and other various war crimes, but in fact the U.S. military and the vast majority of its personnel are representing us extremely well.

Unfortunately, our presence there is based on some extremely bad judgment, deliberate deception, and criminal misuse of the military by the Bush administration. If it is that administration that you mean by "we", then of course "we" are doing an awful job. I personally don't see why the United States as a whole should take responsibility for the terrible behavior of the Bush administration. Of course it's up to us to clean up his mess. But the United States is certainly better than Bush and his people, and blaming us for what he did is not fair to the U.S.

I also suggest that you use better sources in the future to make your points. The last two lines of this "news article" betray an obvious bias on the part of the writer, and that makes us question the rest of the story.

This is one of the enemy doing propaganda for the terrorists. They are trying to convince America that we are all worthless, and should become good Muslims by just accepting the violence they brought to us. We should convert, give up and serve Allah, or die.

What a great idea! Let's all become Islamic because PEACE is more important that survival or our way of life!

Haven't you heard all the America Haters? Haven't they been convincing? Aren't they cool and sexy?

Wow and people puts down American troops. At least you don't see them killing other Americans like the people in Iraq are doing to each other.

USA supported death squads in South America when they were eliminating the political opposition, same as in South Vietnam, this might be the same tactic, basicly the same families are running this war as were running those other wars.

IDK. The best bet would be to ask the soldiers. I think that the media, whatever side you are on, both have lopped sided views and right now it's hard to determine who is correct. I'm for the war, I think we are helping a country who was killing and threatening his people.
