A clove tucked next to the tooth will help. Then go and see the dentist straight away.

This answer is not medical advice. I know about tooth pain. I have had a wisdom tooth impacted in my sinuses, I have had all of my wisdom teeth removed. As a result of a few holes in my teeth, I have had tremendous tooth pain which resulted in three root canals. If the pain is too much you should see a dentist, but for temporary relief of a toothache I have found ambesol liquid that you put on a swab and the ambesol that squeezes out of the little bottle works quickly, but you need to keep it on hand because for me, once the pain came back it came back without warning and just as severe. You can take pain killers like aleve which help with inflamation and pain (use as directed) or tylenol which usually just goes for the pain. These types of medications do not stop the pain immediately, but one dosage lasts longer and the pain wears down and slowly comes back after certain amounts of hours.

There is a product sold in drug stores, in the toothcare isle. I cannot recall the name of it, but it comes on a hanging card, has a little dark brown bottle, tweezers and tiny cotton balls in a little box. The packaging has a red cross on it (not to be confused with the organization). The liquid in the bottle is basically oil of cloves. You use the tweezers to saturate one of the cotton balls in the oil, then hold it on the area the pain is coming from. I used this product for a BAD toothache emergency when I couldn't get to a dentist and it worked!!! I had been taking aspirin, tylenol, advil and even a pain killer a friend gave me, and none worked but this product did!!!

Having a bottle of Pepsi/Coke real cold does relieve the pain.
Grandma's remedy includes soaking some cotton in clove oil in cotton and keeping it on the aching tooth (tastes a bit strong and is not as quick as the first one)

Smash your right hand with a large hammer. Your toothache will go away in no time. If that doesn't work try poking yourself in the eye with a sharp stick. It that fails, try some Advil.
