If he only does it in your yard, it's because he's protecting his territory and you. If he starts going into other people's yards and doing this, that would be cause for concern. It would be stereotypical to say it's a madness for his breed because not all dobies are like that. Depending on how long you've had the dog, it may stem from something in his past. As for the danger factor, you should be on high alert. There are NO vaccinations for snake or croc bites. If the dog gets bitten the only thing you can do is get him to a vet ASAP. If you can, put up a fence in your yard so the crocs can't get up in your yard, nor can he get to the water to attack them. It will save the dog's life, and you some future heartache.

1) Instead of immunization.. i would suggest euthanasia. It's a quicker and more humane way to kill your dog instead of subjecting it to another snake bite - possibly a long painful death coz of a stupid owner. Yeah.. I'm making points here - I'm sure to be selected best answer LOL
2) Every animal has it's madness. Some more than others. I had a doberman as a kid.. she was the sweetest and most protective dog ever. Absolutely the best pet I've ever had!
3) I would have to say you're making this entire thing up. If not, I would LOVE to see some photos.

Hi,,, sure its dangerous for the dog...there is no immunization for snake bite... you can take it to the vet if its bitten.... but that is after the fact....
Sounds like you need to clean up the yard or the area around your house.....
good luck

That is the most dum question I have ever heard.
IF you let him attack snakes that are poisonous your just asking
for his death, Ur a great pet owner. NOT.
Needless to say .... If he does get biten and he is bit by a poison snake when he licks you , ur going to get posioned also....
Leaving this earth sooner than you thought.

I would think that he has been lucky thus far. Seek guidance from your vet on what you should do in an ER snake bite.

Duh! Sometimes our pets even need to be protected from themselves. Don't let him do this if at all possible, it will kill him, much like playing in the middle of the highway.
