I feel happier thanks to my CATS!!!

They make me smile cause they are so cute when they are sleeping or playing together. Of course they can make me angry too when they knock something over or try and munch on my plants!

I believe that animals can help you heal, I'm not sure of the technical reason for that. But if you can smile when you see and animal, or feel the warmth and love of the animal when you pet it, that just might give you something more to live for, or fight the disease for.

The power of pets to help with healing has been become increasingly evident. Animals are increasingly being used to provide contact and companionship for patients in hospitals or nursing home who would otherwise be isolated. Visits by therapy dogs can be uplifting to the patients. Numerous studies that trace the healing benefits of animals demonstrate that. The companionship of a dog is also a stress reliever in difficult situations and may be used to provide solace to people after traumatic events.

Stress stifles the body's healing process. Dogs can help reduce stress, which encourages the body to heal faster. Because of their unconditional love and outgoing nature, they are used in therapy. When I was sick, none of the dogs I ever had left my side except to go outside once in awhile to do their business, but they'd come right back in and be with me. I always felt better with someone there and was over the "bug" in a day or so. Now I have my cat, but she does just a good a job.

I take my little Papillon every week to a nursing home for a few hours. The patients respond to him, and it took very little time for him to get used to elevators, carts, wheelchairs. It really picks me up when I see the faces on the people and now they look forward to seeing us.
