Ideally a family should consist of both a father and a mother, each of whom are involved in their childrens lives, and who are caring, nurturing, supportive, and in love with each other.

That would be the best possible environment for any child.

While a single parent is at a disadvantage, one involved caring parent can do wonders for a child, and in mu opinion can indeed provide a fairly well-rounded environment, especially if there is an extended family to help (biological or friend-type).

There are many two-parent homes where one parent, or worse, both parents, are uninvolved with the children, and/or neglectful, or verbally, emotionally, even physically abusive. There are also far too many homes, both single parent and two parent, where the children spend so much time alone, they are being raised by their peers, not their parents.

These situations are worse than a caring, nurturing environment by one parent.

No way. A child needs both parents to grow up properly. It has to be around both a man and a woman in order to establish in its mind the sesnse of a family. You cant have a family with two people!

No...I can't prove that a two-parent family can establish a well-rounded family either.

Some of both are...some of both aren't.

being a single parent takes lots of hard work, patience and control and dedication: things they are teaching their kids. and being involved with their kids.
there are hundreds of differents kinds of family: we are all doing the best we can to make our lives for our kids a healthy well-rounded as possible.
