God is often portrayed as a child would portray his/her parents. That is...erm...childish. If there's a God, I don't think He's laughing/crying at humanity, I believe He's merely acting. That is, if He's aware of mankind. Moreover, if He's aware of mankind in an individual way.

I agree - I think he does both. Lets face it God is extremely smart about these things. Yes, he may want us to be more God like but I think he knows that we are not. So while at times he may be sad, I would like to think he does laugh and or shake his head in disbelief, but like a parent does with a toddler.
